I hope T-Mobile doesn't have a data proxy location like VM does. We all know the only reason why that proxy system is there in Kansas is to slow down everyone's 3G so VM can be cheap and prevent the entire system from overloading.

T-Mobile got me free overnight shipping on the SIM card so it should arrive within 1 to 2 days. ( Thank you for excellent service! VM would take two weeks.)

You know Sprint is based out of Kansas City MO right? That is why they have the proxy server there. To be honest I live 4 hours from KC and I get internet so that is a false statement too. Because if it was to slow people down I should have good 3g seeing as my location is close. Its like connecting to game servers the farthest one will always be the worst connection and the closest one will have the best.

Also IIRC this is a internet only offer so the stores SHOULDNT have the proper activation packages. You should be ordering them online.

Remember this plan is new so to speak. Just like when virgin released the Optimus V. There is going to be growing pains. If you have issues goto twitter and start sending tweets to CS they are not like VM's twitter they have tons of people monitoring that and will try to get you satisfied.

There's rumor that the new T-Mobile 4G device that goes with this plan sold by Wal-Mart is the Samsung Galaxy W (Exhibit/Ancora), which seems like a better phone than the Optimus Black that may or may not come to VM. With a rumored price of $99 or $199 it'll definitely give VM a run for its money.

Samsung GALAXY W Preview

I highly doubt that would go so cheap when they still have the sidekick 4g for nearly $400, but if that comes out to be the story then I'm sold. I've simply been looking for a good Tmo 4g phone on ebay so i can make the switch and try it out (keeping vm $25 plan too of course)

I've activated the service and it works with my Mytouch 3G. The Web Guard was enabled by default. I tried disabling it the easy way from the My T-Mobile account management but it wouldn't accept the verification information. I called CS and got disconnected twice before someone was able to verify my information and disable the web guard. They told me to wait two hours then completely power off the phone then it should be disabled. Support gave me a direct number so hopefully the web guard will turn off and I won't have anymore issues.

Whenever my mobile Internet starts working I can report back with a speed test.

I wonder how long it will take me to use up 5 GBs.

So you got a mytouch 3g? Not the 3g slide?. Is it better/equally powered as the optimus? I ask because I am most likely switching to t-mobile from VM. :)

LOL. its not the slide. It's the HTC Magic/Sapphire 32B T-Mobile original Mytouch 3G v1.0 (not to be confused with the v1.2 which has slightly more ram, preloaded swype, and a 3.5mm headphone jack)

The MT3G was T-Mobile's second Android phone after the G1 (first consumer android phone) It has a 528Mhz CPU, no dedicated modem or gpu like the optimus and really is nothing more than a G1 without a keyboard.

The stock 2.2 tmobile rom build is terrible on this phone but runs fine with 1.5 or 1.6 (but who wants that?). 2.2 CM6.1 as well as some other AOSP roms are great on this phone. unofficial CM7 or unofficial 2.3 runs pretty slow but is tolerable when overclocked.

So the optimus is a speed demon compared to the MT3G but it has more internal storage which is a good thing for more apps. Expect lag on any build except for 1.5

I'm still waiting for the web guard to disable on the phone. (It now shows OFF on account management) Its been about two hours since I called. The good news is I get really great signal, almost always full bars everywhere.

looking forward to hearing webgaurd is fixed by someone. plan seems useless untill then

The web guard is now set to off but Internet access still doesn't work. I waited 3 hours. Blocked sites like twitter take forever to load and will show in a broken, text only format. Market doesn't work. When trying to access Facebook.com I get redirected to the my account page which tells me I do not have a data plan. I will check later, I hope it works in the morning as it could just take time to provision or it could just be another redirect of death.

The hardware on the Galaxy W is very cheap indeed, it's basically a plastic slab with a screen & some chips (which have come down in price since they're last generation, and are basically commodities now). Little hardware components like, LED flash & indicator lights, hardware buttons & keyboards, metal body all add to cost. Also given how Sprint sells the LG Optimus S at a higher price, even on contract, compared to the no-contract Optimus V, it's reasonable to expect $199 for the Galaxy W, especially if a giant like Wal-Mart commits to it.

Also someone posted a wal-mart price sticker:

I've also seen reviews that say it feels "like a plastic toy". So I think it's a case of putting the priority on the guts, which is fine by me. Slap a case on it and it'll feel the same as my Optimus V with a case on it. Or an iPhone with a case on it. Once it's covered in TPU, who cares.

Now it says I don't have a data "bucket" and to renew my plan for more data on my phone. Sounds exactly like T-Mobile's redirect of death. I was given a direct support number and will contact support later today.

So they have a Samsung Galaxy Walmart? That's almost stupid. If you ask someone what phone they have and "It's a Galaxy Walmart" LOL. Believe me no one wants a Walmart phone.

The Samsung Galaxy W is its international name, the W doesn't stand for wal-mart. Actually that's probably why it's called the Exhibit II, or Ancora in the U.S.

Okay My data services were reprovisioned about an hour ago. I am now able to access the Internet normally.

My speed result was approximately 300ms ping, 3500 Kbps down, 350 Kbps up. This was full signal bars Mytouch 3G to Chicago IL speedtest.net server. This may be slower because it's an older phone. AGAIN THIS IS NOT A 4G SPEED TEST. Just wanted to make that clear.

3500 Kbps down?!? ( the upload speed of 350 is what I get with virgin already) wow. When you want to see a youtube vid. How fast is it? :D

3500k on 3G. Holy crap. I usually get between 200-400k down on VM.
