t-mobile compatibility?

I've tried to bring my Galaxy A5 (2016) over to T-Mobile prepaid before, and had two dropped calls within one day in 4 or 5 bars of coverage. So I went back to my old carrier. Does anyone here have experience using this phone on their postpaid service? I understand I will be able to roam on other networks in that case, which may help when this phone supports band 17 on AT&T, but not 12 such as on T-Mobile (aren't they inter-operable?) It would be used in Charlotte, NC. Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated!

Who is your old carrier? Did you check the APN settings and modify them?

AT&T. I don't remember touching the APN settings, though the T-mobile rep may have.
