I trust reps with a grain of salt. We can agree to disagree but a device that is selling enough to be out if stock goes on back order.. Not disappears. Otherwise T-Mobile wouldn't have pages like the one below that show estimated shipping time for popular devices. That way when people order then know when it'll ship.

On the other hand, the only devices listed on the page you linked to are devices from the two Uber-OEMs, Apple and Samsung. That could suggest that only devices with persistent very high demand make it to that page. (And I trust T-Mobile's web site even less than you trust their reps; pages seem to get abandoned frequently with no reasons given for the lack of updates.)

I'm cool with agreeing to disagree too, but it is conceivable that T-Mobile pulled the device because repeated requests for product were met with either a runaround or an ambiguous or ridiculous guesstimate instead of a hard ETA.

Interesting. I just checked the HTC Update page and it says:

"We're excited to see Android N and get it into HTC customers' hands. At this time, we can confirm the HTC 10, HTC One A9, and HTC One M9 will receive Android N."

If you scroll down to the part where you check to see if your phone is up to date and select T-Mobile from the drop down, the 10 is not among the devices listed. If you select "unlisted" you get a note that says "unlisted devices will not be supported". That tells me that those of us who got the TMo version are screwed

I'm not convinced that's a correct assumption. The 10 is not listed for ANY carrier on HTC's pull-down menu...including "unlocked version". I suspect that HTC threw the intro paragraph up but hasn't gotten around to updating the carrier lists.

Like I said, it's not listed for any of them, Verizon, strint, unlocked or T-Mobile so that means nothing.

I just checked out the JUMP offerings on T-Mobile to see if there were any new additions to the line up, and, lo and behold, the HTC 10 has returned to the T-Mobile site with an estimated ship date of 10/15/16 to 10/20/16. Here's a screen capture:



So the 10 is not showing up on public T-Mobile pages, but it does show up on the My T-Mobile pages as a JUMP option when you log in to your TMo account.

T-Mobile often get rid of phone that don't sell well faster than anyone else. I think they will have the next HTC phone, but if it doesn't sell well it will end up the same way.

How else do you judge a phone? If it's the greatest phone ever made but has low sales is that considered a success? HTC obviously has problems, M7 was their best phone and at the time no android phone was even close to it's design and quality. Yes M8 and M9 were misfires, plagued with bad cameras and finally corrected in the 10. But it's too late now, it isn't 2012 or 2013 the competition has caught up. Samsung's Galaxy lines are selling extremely well. Apple is still selling tons of phones. Can't compete with Apple and Samsung at the flagship level. Don't want to compete on low level and budget phones. Where does that leave HTC?

They really need a change of course, offer more than the competition. Start the phone at 64GB, make the camera stellar. Look at Samsung and Apple improve on those cameras. Get rid of Sense and stick to stock android. Price the phone at $499.

But of course they won't.

Sad but true. I am a huge fan of HTC devices, since I owned the Desire HD. I've owned flagship HTCs ever since. There's just no coming back...

Im glad I scrolled down, had roughly the same thing all typed up to his post. Agreed everywhere you said really. Vanilla android will not help, if anything will hurt since Sense is top notch when it comes to Android skins. Its extremely lightweight and very responsive as a whole. I dont understand the obsession with the camera. The 10 has a good camera and somehow he still wants even better like that is the reason their sales arent up to samsung.

I will continue to buy HTC based solely on the fact they havent done me wrong yet. Combined with Samsung phones just arent doing it for me still despite getting better. I will ride the HTC brand til the end as their phones are more or less perfect for what I need out of a phone. Putting a minimally better camera in the phone, or dropping the price to some ungodly low price (and losing money on each device) wont help this situation. Samsung has a strangle hold to the point where most non tech users just assume Android is Samsung and vice versa. Marketing is a strong tool, and the common public sees Samsung ads everywhere so assumes its a no brainer and never actually tries anything else available. Their mind was made up 90% of the time before entering the store to get a new phone.

The reason to go stock android is not because it offers something better, but as a cost cutting move. Stock android is good enough for 99% of your needs. Why bother wasting resources on writing software and updating. Who knows how much money they're burning updating sense, not to mention it slows down the update process. Let Google do the software and the updating. Just like they are going to do with HTC's nexus phones this year. This will translate to lower costs, quicker updates, and no more carrier bs involved. What happened to HTC's 15 day update policy? This will draw in more people, people like me that like having their phones updated. This should also lead to a lower cost device since they no longer need coding staff or at least less coding than before.

The camera will offer something equivalent to or better than Samsung, this will entice people looking for great cameras. Yes their current camera is the best they have ever made, is it as good as the GS7? No. There has to be a better value, HTC's $700 non sale price tag puts it squarely at the Apple and Samsung level.

Obviously the current path they are is going to either lead to bankruptcy or selling off the phone division to someone else. I do agree with you that Samsung and Apple have dominant positions right now, but I don't think that will last forever. I don't want HTC to go out of business, but they need to change some things and quick if they are to survive.

How good does the stock nexus phones sell? Count out the recent sales of the 5x since it's dirt cheap but how well do stock Android phones sell?

Motorola doesn't sell too well, the older 6 nexus didn't sell too well.

I think the reality is htc needs to hit prepaid and compete with the players there. They're not competing with Samsung or apple.

When I look at Samsung, look how curved and nice the s7 series is? The note 7 is smaller than the iPhone 6 plus. Samsung got the design down packed. Htc phones are still too bulky. Too heavy, subpar screen with a poor reputation. No one bought the a9 either.

HTC either has to go really cheap or get a complete design makeover, slim and light.

Removing sense isn't going to solve anything, I don't think k many people care and updates aren't htc problem, poor design, weight and camera are the problem.

what ypu think of the axon 7? For four bucks, I think htc needs to go that route.

I personally don't think that HTC would be accomplishing much by going that route. Even if the 10 was priced as such it still would not have sold well and would have ended up getting sacked by T-Mobile regardless. I know few are willing to acknowledge it, but HTC's products and pricing are not what guaranteed their death in the smartphone market. There's other factors that no HTC branded smartphone can overcome.

To delta7: I personally do not see anything wrong with the design of the 10 but everyone sees things different. As for the weight... How is the phone even remotely heavy?
