T-mobile is claiming they are now 3rd

I would consider many of your posts trolling.

Fair enough. Please feel free to point out to me which ones they are by PM and I'll try to format them more to your liking. While my posts may not always be "what the gallery wants to hear," I always try to stay on topic.

I also simply asked if you had T-Mobile service because so many people don't and yet they feel they need to come here bashing a carrier that no longer concerns them.

Glad we got that sorted that out. Yes--I do have TMO service.

You just keep pushing this idea that T-Mobile is throttling. Sure you linked to other sites where people claim they are but there still is no solid proof.

I can go a block from here where i am now and get a very slow or even no data connection at all. That doesn't mean I'm getting throttled, that's just T-Mobiles poor coverage, it's very uneven. I tend to believe that people are having this happen and are thinking they are getting throttled. I refuse to believe that they are when my own Note 4 came with an app installed offering T-Mobile TV or something like that. I deleted it because I'm not interested in that.

When you keep bringing up this idea that people are getting throttled over and over, that's trolling.

Also, why are you so interested in the T-Mobile forum? I went back to the first of the year and you spend all your time here in the T-Mobile forum. Aren't you interested in other things like phones?

Is there ever solid proof outside of what official sources say, then? So when people on AC are saying they are not getting throttled, have their claims been vetted, or is there anything that makes AC forum members more believable than other places like Reddit, TMONews, AnandTech forums, etc?

BTW, BGR has picked up the story as well: T-Mobile unlimited data plan slow speeds come from “de-prioritization” | BGR

And Brandon Schulze--the Reddit threads' starter--says he spoke with John Legere's office. Has there been a denial from said office vis a vis the conversation Mr. Schulze claims to have had with them about "de-prioritization?"

I appreciate your point, but that is not necessarily what's happening in these cases. Here is ACer demontooth saying he's getting throttled as well. Would you mind asking him how much is he moving around that's throwing him from good to poor coverage?

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. Is it that you don't believe people are getting throttled because your phone came with a T-Mobile TV app?

When you keep bringing up this idea that people are getting throttled over and over, that's trolling.

But nowhere have I said that everyone is getting throttled--I have been very specific. And do you consider others posting "nope, I haven't been throttled" trolling too then, when they seemingly try to speak for others based on an extension of their own experience? For others like demontooth?

Also, why are you so interested in the T-Mobile forum? I went back to the first of the year and you spend all your time here in the T-Mobile forum. Aren't you interested in other things like phones?

I fail to see the relevance of these questions. Outside of the Marketplace, do the Mobile Nations (or Android Central specifically) have rules that prohibit registered members from posting wherever they like?

Well, I've had t-mobile for 2 years now (coming from sprint) and I've never been throttled at all. My usage has been on the high side ever since joining. We're talking 100 gigs a month usually. I have family and friends and none have spoken of being throttled as well or constantly slow speeds.

The "yays" are few and far between to show this is a widespread practice of tmobile.

At least in cali it's been that way. And I've been nor cal to so cal.

And keep in most common folks don't know when a tower is having issues or is being upgraded. Tmobile is upgrading a lot of towers from edge to LTE also so maybe that's what they are experiencing. Or maybe they live or are at a horrible coverage area. It's to many variables to name bro bottom line T MOBILE DONT THROTTLE. Not yet anyway.

I think the point NexusGirlX was trying to get across.. We value everyone's participation. There is NO written rule to where you choose to spend your time in Android Central's forums or any of the Mobile Nation's communities but it does look a bit odd when your not participating in any device discussion and only commenting " often negatively " on T Mo's carrier forums. Many take that as someone who is hear to simply discredit a carrier. Which is your own choice in doing so, but you do have to be willing to take some heat for starting the fire which is okay as long as where not trying to spread the fire onto others within the community.

Sharing information and creating discussion is encouraged but it is also the role of the moderators to overlook the forums and make sure nobody is trying to drive the discussion in one direction or another simply for their own benefits or enjoyment which you would be surprised, there are many folks out there that do simply that.

Hope that clears things up and no hard feelings.

With Sprint losing customers at a considerable rate (their desperate attempts at getting AT&T and Verizon users with the 'Cut your Bill in Half' ad campaign), Tmo is probably 3rd by now.

Streaming some music services that doesn't count against data, reasonable plans at reasonable rates, it wouldn't surprise me if this claim is true.

Just to clarify some things, the traditional throttle, like what att does for unlimited at 3 to 5gb doesn't apply to tmobile for sure.

Now there is network prioritization wherein on a high load tower, a carrier will prioritize (or de prioritize) certain network traffic. Keep in mind that on a tower that is not high load at the time, then you should get full speed. That is what raino's article is claiming. This is similar to what Verizon planned to implement on 4GLTE but didn't.

Regardless of whether they are 4th or 3rd, they have a good momentum going. I think sooner or later they will have to do something if they want to gain customers but keep a low price while maintaining network quality.

Their network placement is a pretty minor point to me, so long as they provide you with the services that you need at a low price then they are a good choice....

Shouldn't "de-priorization" result in higher latency but speeds staying the same? If you're going from 5-10 or higher mbps to 0.05 especially once you hit an arbitrary soft cap (but not necessarily below it--or at least not as badly speeds-wise,) isn't that throttling?

IOW, why are people getting "de-prioritized" to 0.05-0.5 when they hit 17 or 20 or whatever number it is? Isn't the network under constant strain starting from megabyte#1?

There isn't any cap is what he is saying man smh. All he said was if one tower is busy your speeds may crawl which is understandable. But is not throttling. And I say in Chicago and hasn't had this happen.

No, I understand what network optimization is and have no problem with the practice itself (just with a carrier calling themselves "Data Strong" when they do it and still offering unlimited data in such slammed markets.) But if you go through the Reddit thread, the disgruntled customers are complaining about getting "de-prioritized" only after they hit ~17-20 GB, and being told they'll stay "de-prioritized" until the end of the billing cycle.See here.

Getting back on track to the topic... T-Mobile is now the 3rd carrier right? Like officially?

Yeah, I heard it had to do with some phone that people were buying en-masse. But that's impossible since it didn't have a removable battery or an SD card slot, which everyone knows is essential for any successful smartphone, right?

*extracts tongue from cheek*

Well maybe they are lying. Or maybe they aren't on the 80$ plan. Keep in mind that the 70$ plan says unlimited but you actually get throttled.

Tmobile is not throttling. ...the slow speeds are from the upgraded towers along with new install of backhaul
