Re: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

You're both using different types of Screen Lock methods. One is swipe is secured with a Auto-Lock. FYI I also have the same options as the user with the Auto-Lock as I have PIN enabled as my security method. If you change the Screen Lock method it should change accordingly.

Oh ok sorry. I have no idea what it looked like before, I've almost always had swype as the screen lock

Does anyone who has updated notice the click sound when unlocking the phone is gone? Is this a bug? I use a PIN and button savior if that's relevant. It worked with sound prior to Kit Kat.

Hello,

Just purchased my self an Sm-N9005 from Jordan Sim free European model. A couple of my colleges are running Kit-Kat and the same phones however I have not received the update as yet. I have checked this by checking for updates.

My Phone details are as follows:

Model - SM-N9005
Android Version - 4.3 Jelly Bean
Baseband - N9005XXUDMJ7
Build Number - JSS15J.N9005XXUDMK2

I'm having the same issue. I haven't really read anything else about it so I was going to take my phone in. Anyone have any suggestions on the battery issue after the download?

Okay, since the update & subsequent battery drain, I noticed it was running a little warm also, figured out it was the gps. Turned it off from the swipe down screen, at first, no difference. Went into settings & saw gps was still in the on position, turned it off, & now my phone is a normal temperature & Battery life seems normal again. I don't know why this changed after the update but hope it's fixed soon as I usually have location services turned on all the time. Hope this helps someone! Also, I'm going to turn it back on to see if it still drains the battery & get back with an update

Make sure the update didn't turn anything on that you didn't have on before and also re-enable apps that you had disabled. You'll have to go through everything in the app manager. Turning off Google now and G+ returned me to stellar battery life. Over 6hrs screen on time over a 16hr day.

Also before the update I had lte disabled since it was showing a crappy lte signal. Since the update and increase in lte signal strength I enabled lte. You might try that if you're in an lte area.

Just noticed in app manager that "software update" is running, never showed up running before & I've already updated... Could I shut that down without screwing up the phone?

Anyone having wifi calling problems after the update? I've had a few instances where the phone would fail to make an outgoing call when on wifi. The text messages are also slow coming in. I receive a bulk (several) texts at the same time that more than likely were not miraculously sent at the same time.

Oh...tmobile knows. .. my phone crashed this morning after trying to uninstall an app, had to do a factory reset. I asked if I should reinstall KitKat os (although it installed with reset) , Rep told me definitely not,too many people with too many issues & not minor ones. .. told me to wait till they update this version in a couple months. Luckily I'm not having any problems since reset...Time will tell. ..

How does one ensure that you have to opt in to get the update? I don't want a ninja update, without my explicit agreement.

Why in the hell is Android eating up nearly half my battery life with kit Kat?? What have you done to my new Note 3 Google? It's 3 days old!
