T-Mobile Pixel Oreo Update

The only problem is that, if you want to then get out of Beta, it will wipe your phone - regardless of the fact that you have the non-Beta version - because you're in the Beta program.

Sorry - you're 100% wrong here. Everyone that has done it has not had their phone wiped. Myself included.

It must also be noted that when you enroll in the Beta program, it is ONLY for that version of Android, not "all versions". Google will not re-enroll you in the next version, you must re-enroll yourself.

I was in the beta for quite a while, then bailed.

Thanks for the info re: going back to beta to get an earlier update - but I think I'll just wait.

My biggest hope was that the ongoing BT skipping issue (for many of us) would be resolved in Oreo, but I didn't find that to be the case. I did enjoy the longer battery life on beta, however.

The only time that your phone gets wiped is if you are leaving beta program and your software is still in beta. Since Oreo is final release, un-enrolling does not cause a wipe.

I can agree with this. I enrolled in the beta program and then opted out after updating to Oreo and I didn't have to wipe my phone since I was on the stable version.

"You may opt-out of the program at any time to return to the stable, public version of Android. Note: If you opt out when your device is running a beta version of Android, all user data on the device will be wiped."

That statement was copied directly from the beta website which you have to sign in to be able to see but it states when your device is running a beta version of Android. So if you are on a stable release that isn't beta you do not have to wipe your phone.

Isn't Oreo still a beta? I have not seen anything that says it is officially released into the wild.

So why are you pointing at T-mobile? .

Not that I want to take their side. But for as often as I complain about them, I don't see how you can have an issue with them on the Oreo update......... Yet

I am a T-Mo fan! No "taking sides".
As Gdraft said, Android O is fully released, just not pushed via T-Mo yet.

Like many others, we are waiting on T-Mo's OTA. Nothing more.
Would like to see it soon!

Oreo was announced, not released. Google is the one doing the update not T-mo.

Google has released the beta, but has not released the full rom, replacing 7.2.(whatever).

Once they do, you will get an OTA. T-mo has nothing to do with this. If they did, it would be months away and when it was released they would have screwed up most of the features rendering the phone almost useless.

That's why I roll Pixel... Keeps T-mo out of the picture

Got it.
Thanks!

Google has not yet released the OTA images for Oreo downloads. Until that has been done, I personally don't feel the update is quite ready for primetime. Mind you, that's just my own personal feeling.

Why is it in 'carrier testing' then? Surely they must have something to do with it.

Maybe the carrier testing isn't to make sure it will work, but rather letting all of their employees "test it" before they decide to send it out? You know, to make sure they can all spell "Google"
