Taking bets on the level of bloat

Laugh while you can, because as soon as Verizon figures out how to put a positive spin on it and convince people 90% of us need, want and use bloat and the other 10% are evil abusers they will be charging for that too.

True enough. They also listed OTA updates among the free services. To my mind, Verizon either doesn't update fast enough (or long enough in the life of the device), or they update without warning, causing mayhem on my phone. Either way, even "free" costs too much.

This is the bloat it comes with:

Mobile Hotspot
Backup Assistant +
Visual Voice Mail
Verizon Tones
VZ Navigator
My Verizon Mobile

These are the Google Apps:

Gmail
Google Talk
YouTube
Google Calendar
Google Search & Google Maps
Play Music, Play Books, Play Movies
Latitude
Google +
Places

That's really not bad at all.

Honestly, if I could just delete the icons I'd be happy. I don't like them cluttering up my app drawer.

Maps/Places is annoying... but [sidebar] I stopped trusting the Facebook app when my contacts ended up on their servers. remember that mess? Won't install Instagram either. [/sidebar] why not just delete the facebook app and use m.facebook.com instead? I haven't found anything I do on Facebook that I can't do from the site.

I admit that's a fairly limited selection, as I'm not a FB power user and haven't seen what the app may have grown into in the last 6 months or so.

Thats what I like about Nova Prime you can hide the icons to the apps you dont use regadless if they are the bloatware ones or not.I dont like a clutter looking app drawer,.
Also that isnt as much bloatware as I expected to see

With 2GB of ram I'm a little less concerned I'll admit. Plus, doesn't Samsung allow you to "hide" apps in the stock launcher? I'm more concerned with not seeing it than anything else and as long as it's not something stupid that's running 24/7 in the background draining battery I'm happy with just hiding it.

I'm happy with My Verizon Mobile, Visual Voicemail and Mobile Hotspot being there for obvious reasons. Would be nice if Backup Assistant wasn't there, but since you can turn off its syncing features it's not a concern. Verizon Tones and Navigator is kind of dumb, especially on an Android device, but there are probably people who use it. If Verizon was smart(er) they'd just put their apps in ONE app and not 12.

There isn't any reason why Backup Assistant and Tones couldn't be placed in My Verizon Mobile. Mobile Hotspot really isn't an app as much as it's a feature. Visual Voicemail is fine how it is. and VZ Navigator really should just not be preinstalled on a phone that gives free navigation. However, I'm sure that BECAUSE they preload some of this stuff they are probably screwing us a little less in some places. You know Verizon... if they can't afford their 12 bentley payments per person we get gouged somehow. Consider it "hideable" advertisements.
