A friend of mine on AT&T says that my texts get chopped into several texts, and that some never get through and that sometimes they don't come in the right order. Is this an EVO thing, a Sprint thing or is it related to the app I am using to write/send my messages.

He says when he texts his wife (also on AT&T) that the texts never get cut.

text messages are limited to 164 characters, its his phone that is translating them funny. My iphone did it.

SMS limit is 160 characters. Anything more than that and the Evo cuts it up. Once it cuts it up there is no guarantee of order of delivery. Most other phones insert a "(1 of 3)" at the beginning of the cut up segment, but I think the EVO just chops and sends.

It's how text messaging works. Everywhere. 160 characters, unordered delivery. It's due to the technical design of cellular communication protocols.

If you want to send longer messages, send email.

If you use Handcent you can set it to automatically cut them up and number them (ie 1/3) so that the receiver knows if they got them all or not, and what order to read them in.
