Text notifications cut short?

i've go this problem too. I thought there was something wrong with the sound file at first. i'll give some of the soloutions here a go but not too happy about deleteing older msgs, if that is the fix for it

I case no resolution has yet been posted on this here it is
Message notification sounds cutting off is due to message maximum being reached. The sound is being interrupted by the phone deleting the oldest message
To fix either deleted some message threads or from messages do menu setting and unchecked maximum messages. That worked for me.

This happens on email notifications also, which have nothing to do with sms messages. My email alert "stutters".

My message limit is set to 200 per conversation and 20mms per conversation. If I delete all my txts it works fine till I have about 10 messages when it flakes out again.

So you will understand why I am not so convinced

what fixed it for me, don't recall where i heard it but i did not come up with it.
here it is, messaging, settings, delete old messages. i unchecked that and it has been working fine for days now. My wife and i both have spring s3 phones, hers was fixed also.

now the message delete is very nice on this phone. i use to long hold, then delete. on this, with the messages showing, left button, delete messages. this gives check boxes next to the messages to batch delete.

no need to delete individual messages unless you want to clean up.
