Thanks, Verizon

Being totally serious here! Nothing but connectivity and 4g LTE issues with this phone since day 1 and I am on my second phone that still has the same issues. Way beyond being able to return it. So no sarcasm with that part of my post

Yeah I'm in the same boat. My order has been "Processing" since I ordered. My status window says "Get by 12/7". At this point I just want to know the truth. It's a great deal, but I'm starting to doubt I'll see it before 2017. I still really want this phone, but if at the point of ordering it told me I'd be waiting months I may have jumped on another deal.

I called Best Buy customer service and asked if I could cancel my order and I was told I'd have to wait till I got my phone to return it - that canceling would mess up my use of the VZW upgrade somehow. I think I'm going to just tough it out because $240 ... but I don't like the lack of transparency and being told I'm stuck waiting.

I should have done store pickup.

Wow.

I bought a new tablet through BestBuy a couple weeks before Black Friday -- a Samsung S2 9.7 -- and they really screwed up the order.

Put a different way, I spent about three hours on the phone with them on that particular device -- and the thing was in stock a block away from my office!

I tried everything with them -- re-placing the order, going to the store, etc. Finally I went over and talked to the guy in charge of the backroom stock area and told him I was thisclose to dumping $1500 of order and going to B&H. He was a good guy and helped so the bottom line, it all worked out.

But if kept getting lied to I'd be out the door. Insert any random expletive you'd like here, they're all applicable (and I did when I was there that day they dropped the ball). There's no reason for them to lie except they -- like Verizon -- have no clue what's happening and Google is being less than genuine or considerate vis-a-vis when they will actually be shipping these things out.

But in terms of common sense, if Google has two avenues of distribution -- one of which is $850 a pop, and the other is $400 or less per -- which do you think they'll push to distribute? :-/

Jeez. That's not wonderful at all. Given how much aggravation you've had I'll assume Google -- if you find the right person -- will work with you. They can't afford having PR problems on a phone that's costing this much. But given how efficiently they've handled this situation, I'm not sure finding the right person -- or any person -- able to solve this is feasible.

As far as small phones go, there are plenty of little Pixels available at the local VZW outpost here in NYC. Not sure how long it would take to get you one but if you're one of the lucky ones who got caught up in the Note 7 fiasco and you can find someone willing to help, more than likely they'll be able to get you a standard-size Pixel. Just a guess.

I should have done store pickup.

I guess I should have as well (if I had known) at the time of order no store within a reasonable distance of my had any units. I figured completing my order meant they were putting aside a product they have in stock for me. How silly of me.

I check now and 4 stores relatively close to me have them in stock for pickup today (the closest ones say they'll have stock on 12/14). Is it possible to go to a store with my order information and get Pixel from a local Best Buy or do I just need to wait? Does anyone know - I of course could just call them.

b) dump Verizon and find a new provider;
HUGE mistake if you did your homework properly. You choose the carrier by which one gives you the best signal (at the time, anyway) in the areas you need signal. (At your desk, not in the street in front of your office building - standing by the door to make phone calls is a pain.)

If you did that, Verizon has the best signal in all the places you need signal, so stay with them - not for any other reason, but for the coverage. (A phone in a dead spot is a brick.)

If another carrier gives you better coverage, and has a decent plan, switch now.

Agreed completely -- which is why I'm more than likely going to stick it out with VZW. AT&T is an option but we're happy with the quality of the service we get -- so unless Verizon seriously screws up we're in it for the long haul. That, and if things continue like this, I'll be using a Pixel 2 and will be having VZW paying our bill for the next three months LOL

I picked Very Silver. None of the stores near me show it available.

Wasn't sure whether I was going to bother posting, but after getting assurances from Verizon indicating my Pixel XL 128GB was shipping on 12/2, I got a lil' email saying "Sorry, you're going to have to wait for another few weeks (specifically until 1/13)."

So angry. Not sure if I should a) dump the order; b) dump Verizon and find a new provider; c) have Verizon credit me the monies I've already laid out for cases and chargers and the other crap I've bought in anticipation for the phone's (now questionable) arrival, or d) have them credit me the various data overage fees I've had as a result of the cluster this whole process has been.

Yes, I know it's Google's fault for intentionally or otherwise holding handsets back. But the shipment email came from Verizon and never once did they say "No way it's not going to ship, you'll have it by 12/4 or 12/5."

What a show.

Really if that wasn't made clear beforehand.

That's quite a bit off of the product's shelf-life. I'm disappointed in them for not facilitating the release of the Gear S3 Frontier with LTE; if they eventually do come 'round it'll be a similar situation. I've got to find better things in which to place my faith.

This is no different from the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 6p shipping shortages.

The Nexus 4 was nearly impossible to get until the new year after it was released.
The Nexus 5 sold out constantly as well in November and December of 2013.
The Nexus 6 was so bad that Google would release new batches once a week...and they would sell out in a matter of minutes.
The Nexus 6p was a real fiasco with people preordering on September 29th but not getting their device until November 20th while some people ordered a phone on November 2nd and got it November 4th (me).

My Pixel is due to ship this Friday. My order status still says processing. I sure hope it ships.

The Verizon rep I talked to blamed Google for the shortage. I'm not the only one that's been told that.
That's how I figured, they seem to have gotten more direct orders then expected and are pulling those from the inventory original slotted for the 3rd party vendors.

No question Verizon has been given the short end of the stick here, Google is not getting them what they promised. Having said that, VZW has been put into a very difficult position -- with the double Note 7 fiasco and then pawning off the S7 and the Edge on those already-tweaked customers (Hello), and then promising phones by a certain date six weeks after placing an order and still nothing. My order was originally placed in late October and I won't be receiving my phone until mid-January if I'm lucky. That's re-donk-you-luss. The only benefit is that they have me using a 7Edge which is nice and water-resistant for the upcoming winter months, so by the time I get the phone, eg June, I will have figured out a way to survive beach weather with a non-waterproof device :D

It's Verizon's fault you decided to Preorder it months after its released? You do realize Verizon gets their shipments from Google right? You're not the only one waiting...
