there's a promotion out there for $100 off of a 4G smartphone, VZW has it in their system. Apparently, it's pretty hard to find and even harder to get. I read about it in one of the threads here, decided what the heck and started bugging customer service about it....

Oh God I know I'm gong to get flamed for this... I don't know how to get the information on here, but on twitter, someone by the name @VZDubtk said there is an update pushing out now for the Verizon galaxy Nexus, approx 10.7 Mb in size.... I guess this means the phone is some to see the light?

Just called my local store and they said they hadn't heard of any release date. Hoping he is wrong!
I got a Holiday flyer/pamphlet in the mail Monday that said $150 off any 4G smartphone. I thought this was too good to be true. I took it around to stores, one authorized reseller, and one Verizon corporate store and they couldn't honor it. So I called the number on it, they looked at my account to see if I had any available promotional discounts and it apparently doesn't show up on their system. So the nice representative said, "Hold on, let me do a "mock" order to see if it applies the discount." Sure enough, it took $150 off. And she did the mock order on the Galaxy Nexus, which listed in her system as $299.

BUT..... the thing expires 12/25. And if they delay the GNex til after that, I'm gonna be super pissed.
EDIT: I live in Nashville, TN by the way. I've heard the promotional offer may vary by 4G region. We've had 4G in this area for quite a while...

In the SF Bay Area here, just got back from a Verizon Corp. Store to sniff around...found out the launch is pretty much a go at this point for tomorrow and the specific store I went to had 70 phones in stock.....needless to say I will be there bright and early, 1 block from my work.....now lets see if all this really happens lol....cheers good luck and at the end of the day remember it is just a PHONE, lol....

Im here in Memphis speaking to my Verizon rep who just told me to come in at 8am Thursday morning, because she is off but is coming in to sell the Nexus to her list of customers...She stated she was about to text me the news of the release for tomorrow

I have it at home. I'm not sure it would work though. It says "Offer valid for account ending in XXXX" where XXXX is the last 4 of my phone number. There's some codes and stuff on it. When they placed the mock order, they didn't ask for any information from the flyer. And like I said, they didn't even see the discount in their system until they tried to place an order, at which point the discount was instamagically applied.
This tells me they are targeting existing customers in specific markets and trying to get them on 4G plans. I don't know why the hell they'd choose me though because I use a ton of data and have an unlimited data plan that will carry over when I get the Nexus. So they're going to entice me to get a phone I already want, and I'm going to completely rape their 4G network. I don't really care what their reasoning is though because that's a pretty sweet deal.
FWIW I just stopped at VZW in Santa Clara and the rep told me it's a 50/50 on tomorrow's release.

Called a few stores in Rochester, NY. 3 out of the 4 said it would be available for purchase at 9AM tomorrow

Got a text from my rep here in CA stating that the phone has come in and most likely will be selling on the 16...
Also called verizon customer service and seems like there really is no point in asking them... the lady herself told me that they are the last people to know and she herself has signed up for the email and wants to know when it is coming out so she can buy it... unfortunately nothing is in their system for them.
