The dreaded email from BIG red.

Why is everyone using credit cards if they're causing so much trouble? I just paid cash in a corporate store on 6/26 and got a notification yesterday saying it had shipped and would arrive Monday no hassles at all. Did everyone order online for any special reason or anything? I understand using a credit card to pay for an unsubsidized phone, but would cash not have been easier for subsidized ones?

I can order online using a CC while butt naked. If I did that in stores, it might not go so well.

Seriously though, there are several reasons why I order using a CC.

1) Rewards
2) More protection (can do a chargeback if there are any issues). With Verizon, probably not a big deal though, as I haven't really heard of situations where Verizon would screw you on a purchase, at least not in the sense where they would do something illegal.
3) Extended warranty from AMEX. This alone is worth it. The phone carries a 1 year warranty, while, you have a 2 year contract. Sure, you can pay for the extended warranty from Verizon at $1.99, which would be $48 total over the 2 year contract. Granted, they would only reimburse you the price that you paid, but I figure, if it fails after a year, you could pick up a cpo gs3 or similar for around the price that I just paid for my gs3.
 
Ditto. And NO hassle returns/exchanges. In fact, the return label is in the box.

If you decide to return by mail, be sure to go to the counter and get a receipt and don't just drop it off at a box. Several fedex employees have been caught stealing phones and what not. Also, once it gets to verizon, it could be lost in all of the other returned packages. If verizon claims that they never received it and you don't have proof that you returned it, then they probably would charge you $650 or whatever the retail price may be.
 
Hope everyone is getting their phones! My cc acutally got flagged for fraud when the initial pre-order was placed, and I had the bank straighten it out then (on 6/22) so there was no hassle with the actual payment when they were ready to ship. I dunno why Verizon has such a hard time with this, a lot of people must be trying to use stolen card info to buy phones?
 
Just to let you guys know if your order gets put on hold it may be due to your credit or debit card. Thats what happened to me. I used a different card and everything is good now. Hope everyone elses order is running smooth.
 
I didn't wait to talk to my bank. I had vzw charge the device to my account and everything was back on track. Getting my phone today
 
According to my CC company, the issue was a mismatch with the billing address. I'm not sure how that was the case because the bill to address on the confirmation email looked correct to me. Anyhow, the CC customer service rep got a Verizon rep on the phone and they pushed the payment through. Now I need to wait for that shipment confirmation email before I feel better.

Boy you must get the best Reps, how did you manage to get them to do that.

I bank with chase, who put a "pending" on the transaction and sent me a SMS immediately describing the situation. I called chase and OKed the activity so that it was never actually interrupted. I have to say, compared to just about every other bank their fraud protection is the most effective I have witnessed (especially in dealing with false positives like this.)
 
I ordered on the 27th and my order now is sent for processing. Did I get lucky or can I still get this email you guys are getting?

By now you all should have gotten the email as of July 8th with the shipping confirmation and tracking number if you're in the first wave of pre-orders as I was. It will be here Wed. so here's crossing my fingers.
 
How would driving to my Verizon store be "easier" than sitting at home, sipping my cup of joe, doing a few clicks, and entering my CC number? Luckily I did not have an issue with my Visa card but thats besides the point. Plus with my CC's, I get a certain % back in cashback/points - so not only do I save on gas money (and time), but I get a little in return

Exactly. I clicked 4 buttons and used my CC on file and voila it'll be here in 2 days. Infinitely easier than dealing with the VZ store. I suppose I could have ridden my wagon with my donkey on board and traded it with some farm goods for the phone as well. :D
 
Not sure. The stars must have been aligned because I did not even have to wait at all. Maybe it was because I called at 7AM.

Well after talking to my bank they called Verizon, after we went through hoops Verizon processed the order and said it would ship today. I wont hold my breath until I get a tracking #.

So do I, they were wonderful in dealing with Verizon, I didn't even have to ask them to give Verizon a call.
 
Well if anyone gets a Verizon customer service person that seems understanding of the matter and willing to help while maintaining your "unlimited" plan from your pre-order can you please get the person's name and possible direct number? My sister is having this same issue. Her ship date was 7/11 after her telephone pre-order. I checked it for her last night and it now says 7/19. I told her of the issues with Verizon and credit cards so she said she was going to call today. I just got a text from her and she said that Verizon told her that her payment will not go through. My sister called the bank and they have no record of an attempt to make a charge. Again in this case there is more than a sufficent amount of money to cover the charge. So she texted and said she had been on the phone most of the morning so she must be having issues getting that one "right" person. So if you have this issue and get someone who helps please try and get their name and extension or direct number. Thanks.

What worked for me was actually speaking to the bank/CC company and explaining the situation. Ask them to push through the payment and I think they might call Big Red themselves with you on the line to get everything sorted out.
 
Well VZW charged me on Friday and I have yet to get a shipping conformation. WHERES MY PHONEEEEEEE!!!!

I wonder what is up with all these credit card issues! I can't believe all these CC companies would not allow online purchases all of a sudden!

It's prolly VZW's terminal or something in *their* system. I've had cc's declined at Walmart, I call the cc company and they tell me it's Walmart's problem. With this many it sure can't be a single cc company.
 
My wife and I pre-ordered a 32gb white (for her) and 32gb blue (mine) on June 24th. We got an email late Saturday night that our order was being processed but was "on hold." When I checked our order status, it was pushed back from 7/11 to 7/19.

Got a call from Bank of America first thing Sunday morning to authroize the charge to my CC since it had been declined on Saturday. I took care of that then called Verizon to put the order through again. My wife spoke to a very nice Verizon rep named Alicia. She re-charged the card while we were on the phone with her and said we would have our phones by Tueday, July 10th which is a day earlier than we were originally supposed to get them. Our order status was changed from 7/19 to "unavailable" so I wasn't holding my breath.

However, I just got an "order shipped" notification with a Fedex tracking number at 11:30 am this morning. They phones are supposed to be at my door by 3:00 pm tomorrow.
