The Essential Phone - Yay or Nay?

I'm still guessing mid-August at best and staying patient in the meantime. If Google sticks to the same pricing as before and Essential only charges tax in California, you can bank on the 128GB 6" XL device to run about $225~250 more after all the dust settles. Subtract about $100 for the smaller size in 128GB. That's about the only speculation I can personally provide you with right now.

Patience will be rewarded. This phone will come out next will while I am on vacation, just like when I got my invite for my One Plus four years ago. Camping in WVa and I dropped and broke my Nexus 5. used my wife's phone and saw the invite, ordered, and the phone was waiting for me when I got home. Well that's my hope.

I would say this is the worse launch in phone history but I think the Blackberry KEYone holds that title for now..

I have not bothered them with questions so I'll take your word as far as the matte options goes. If that's the case then I'll have zero interest until after the Pixel 2 is announced and / or matte is an option.

I've had glossy phones beofre and NO THANKS! After 1.3 seconds of touching them, they look like a hot, sticky, gooey, fingerprint smudge mess...

Will it be possible to have a battery pack that attaches to the connector in the same way the 360 camera does? That would be a cool way to be able to charge on the go without wires. It would also help those who are worried about battery life.

I'll throw out a guess of the email drop being August 8th or 15th. Mondays and Fridays are typically not used for new product launches since everyone's catching up on Monday and going to meetings, and many leave early on Friday if they've already put in more than 40 hours. Tuesdays are popular.

I wake up and check daily still no news about Essential phone shipping

Like I mentioned above, Mondays and Fridays are the least likely days for shipping news. Nearly every new electronics product I've helped develop has announced on a Tuesday.

I know it won't help anyone's impatience but might help set expectations.
