The Galaxy Note 22 Ultra

I hate paying for a front facing camera on phones that I never use, but I do because they are a mass produced phone and most want it, most note users want the Spen. If you compared previous years pricing on the notes and S series, the Spen is not breaking the bank in pricing.

Sometimes it would be nice to be able to order phones like computers, custom orders. You select if you want a Spen, a front camera, so on and pay accordingly.

I agree MOST note users want the pen, but do MOST S-series users? I'm not the note person, I would be the S22 person. And the addition of the S-pen would be an added cost; something I would not want to pay however, admittedly if I really wanted the phone, it would not be a stopper.

Agree to disagree. But my opinion as well as others means nothing to Samsung. This phone is going to be made the way it is shown; too late to change.

I'll just move on...more likely to purchase an iPhone than a Sammy S22....I feel Samsung will price this out of the ballpark.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I was just saying we all pay for something we don't want.

I fear the S22 will be higher in general, supply shortages, everything going up in price. I'll be interested to see how Samsung deals with this. We see how they dealt with it on the fold 3, they skimped on things such as cameras, but they also lowered the price $200.

This phone needs to hurry. I was all set to buy the Pixel 6 pro but after the reviews it had me stall. Then I saw leaks of S22 Ultra and I'm definitely waiting.

However, my Note 9 is on its last legs. Having to plug it in 6 times a day. I hope I can make it another two months.

My note 9 still feels nearly brand new. Seriously been the best phone I've ever had. I will be getting the S22 Ultra however when it's released. Had the Pixel 6 pro for 3 days and hated it.

I am with you. It's the best phone I've ever owned. Don't laugh as I've owned nothing but flagship android devices but my second best phone of all time was the Motorola Droid Turbo. The Verizon exclusive with the ballistic nylon back.

Going from the nine to the 20, felt like I had tripled in speed. Other than that, there weren't used huge upgrades that I couldn't live without, but the speed was noticeable

Samsung has made some really loony business decisions in the past year and a half or so if you ask me. Getting rid of the Note line in favor of larger, more expensive foldable devices really isn't something IMO that was smart at all.

And they need to stop killing features that people, like myself, find handy and use all the time. It's bad enough they got rid of the headphone jack, but I NEED micro SD card support. I take dozens of pictures of my kid, and if I ever had to reset my phone out of nowhere, I know they are safe as I can use expandable storage.

I just don't like where Samsung has been going. Sadly, I partly blame the pandemic for this. Not putting chargers in the box, wtf, seriously Samsung? Get it together.

I would be tempted to upgrade to the S22 Ultra if it had expandable memory. But, that being said, it more than likely will not as someone as said it is going the way of the dodo... I wish LG was still around. You know, even though they tanked, their devices still til this day have all the features I'm used to and would want/need.

Totally agree. They should have skipped the Fold if they had to and had a Note instead. The Note is proven and a better device.

Why I haven't jumped on the Fold is because it has a small front screen, it's not dust rated AND it has a crap camera plus the horror stories about screens breaking right out of the box.

If the Fold would have had a better camera and dust rated I would give it serious consideration.

It's silly on a phone so expensive it has lackluster cameras.

100 bucks to go from 128 to 512 is not bad in theory (is 128 going to be the lowest increment or do you also have to pay to go from a 64 to 128?), but it is still another hundred bucks that I shouldn't have to spend on a phone that is already ridiculously expensive.

If they want to ditch the SD card the cost to go to 512 should be nominal. And that still leaves me worse off than I was before even so. I am absolutely never going to be happy with this.

I might add, apart from all of the old and typical reasons for being unhappy with it, I was reading an article recently where the journalist was pointing out that with 4K video, the new high megapixel Samsung cameras we are hearing about, easy downloads of Comcast shows and HD stuff and everything, it is really easy to eat up lots of space. I think he makes a good point.

This, of course, is when Samsung decides to cut off expandable storage.

Unfortunately it makes perfect business sense for them, they can keep raising those prices up for 1tb/2tb/etc. And as super high resolution keeps increasing beyond what we even need, so will those minimum storage options and price lol. They're giving us what we don't need, and creating the need to get the prices up. Just like 5G ;)

So what is a crap camera? Have you ever used a fold 3 to see how the camera is? The inside camera isn't the greatest, but does fine for what it's intended for. The rear camera takes fine pictures for a Samsung camera.

Why should have they skipped the fold 3 over the note? The note is being moved to the S series, the release date is just changing. The S series and note are basically the same phone with the Spen being the difference. So IMO, is not a bad move on Samsungs part to move the note to the S series and open up the later to a new tech phone that a lot of people like. The fold 3 might not be your ideal phone now but your complaints will be addressed in future folds and then you might be on board and want the fold. If they killed the fold for a older phone then Samsung would never grow producing the same things for years, change is needed always. Imagine if Samsung took your approach on the note when they first released it, the note got a lot of criticism back then. Thankfully Samsung prefer forward as they should on the fold.

Samsung did the best thing possible IMO, they kept the new technology going and kept the note going also. All that changed is note release date is in February.

SD cards are dying, I don't see a reason they fact be there, but the industry is killing them.

Another thing they could have done with there was semi conductor issue is not have as many A series phones. I have a cell phone accessory shop at a market and a lot of people are buying these A52, A32, A72, A10, A42 phones and they then complain about how crappy they're. Sammy could cut down the number of A phone models. You don't need a bunch of different A phone models.

I think Samsung makes too many phone models in general.... they can't give their phones the proper attention to detail for software updates, or the length of time and quality of software support we deserve... especially for the prices we pay.

It's not just us high end users that need a phone. There's a lot of people that can't afford high end phones or want them. I'm pretty sure Samsung is giving the flagship phones most the attention.

I agree they definitely need to sell phones at all price points ;) , but it feels like they're flooding the market at the sacrifice of good support for all their phones.

In their defense they have stepped up support for their flagships to keep up with the competition... 3 OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates. I just hope they keep their word ;)

But you still have companies like Google and Apple that support all their phones for the same length of time. I guess it comes down to quantity of phones vs quality of support ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and how much money can be made of course :p

IMO, Samsung has always lacked in support, updates and customer. If it wasn't for the competition, I think they still would. They have stepped it up on the software, customer support they still lack.

I don't know how support is on the lower end phones, I would take a guess at less. I would assume those phones are using older tech from previous flagship phones. I don't know, I don't ever look at them.

Too bad this antiquated app doesn't allow photos to be shared. The renders for the dark green S22 ultra are fantastic. And they are confirmed as another site has the upc codes for the matching case from Samsung.

I kind of like the red:

But I have always been attracted to white phones:

Nice thing is if you grow tired you an always get a skin from a place like dbrand and make it another color.
