re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

Ugh, I just got my screen protector installed perfectly. 2 Samsung phone models in a row (within a month) that are becoming issues.
Hopefully it won't involve US models or many if it does.

Re: What happens if the Note 7 is recalled?

Their response is more important than the original issue. If they stay on top of things, fix the problem as quickly as they can with as little disruption to consumers, and throw in some 'make nice' stuff... they'll come out of this just fine.

Totally agree but the timing of this couldn't be worse for them. This wouldn't necessarily deter me but can you imagine how many on-the-fence people would see these headlines and choose the iPhone 7.

True.. But, Samsung is looking into this unlike Apple acting like Touch Disease doesn't exist and it is rampant.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

This is the exact reason I never buy new devices when they are first released. Sometimes the first batch of devices have issues with them that are only discovered from user experience.

I agree! :D Seems like the first batches always have glitches.

Youve seen my luck with the Active in those forums. You know if theres any recall no matter how small its going to affect my phone lol.

Re: What happens if the Note 7 is recalled?

The other thing to consider is the impact this might have on future resale value. For many this is probably not a big deal, but for people like me who go through 3 or 4 phones per year, resale is a really big deal.

That's what I worry about. I really don't want to swap mine out or get repaired. I've charged my phone both wireless and with the wall charger and both work just fine and the phone doesn't get that hot. Only time it has got warm is updating a bunch of stuff. The coolest running phone I've ever had. If they do swap em out I'll take a new one. I would hate to have to go to Iphone and lose android and Spen features.

re: Galaxy Note7 shipments delayed for "quality testing"

It is all speculation at this point. No one has concrete data as to the cause nor scope of any potential recall (including Yonhap News). Easy to research yourself.

Well Yonhap hasn't said there will be a recall yet.

Oh I know, it sucks for you. Maybe this can even help the S7 Active issue move along though..

Re: What happens if the Note 7 is recalled?

It will tell you where and when your phone was made.

Right now we have to wait for the Samsung statement, which supposedly could come as early as this weekend or first of next week.

Everything being reported is conjecture at this point.

Thanks...Mine is showing Korea and made on 8/3/2016.

The only issues I've had have been moderate lag.

Re: If sealed batteries are a liability for cellphones should Samsung move toward swappable batterie

In the US, that isn't feasible. The closest walk in center to me was 2 hours away. They closed. Now the closest one to me is 700 miles.
Depends on where you are. Closest one to me is 5 miles or so... But sure there aren't many so many people are out of luck

Re: What happens if the Note 7 is recalled?

My note 7 just exploded. I know this because something bounched out the bottom when I picked the phone up off the charger. It looks like a small missle. So they put small missles into the phone. No wonder they are blowing up. The color even matches the device. Very clever samsung.

In all seriousness what were they thinking by supplying us with short baby cables? If I didn't have wireless chargers I'd have no choice but to use an alternative cable. Maybe this was all part of their plan. To force us into using alternative cables and then blame us for their fault.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but this must be solved. The only way we can solve this is to break into area 51. And if your still reading this then you must be as bored as I was when I wrote it.

Re: If sealed batteries are a liability for cellphones should Samsung move toward swappable batterie

The topic is about sealed batteries being a liability, presumably the reason the OP brought it up is due to the latest reports.
However, yes, the OP could have been speaking in general terms.
He also mentioned to use a removable battery and waterproof case...

Re: What happens if the Note 7 is recalled?

Would hope they would swap faulty units for new given the cost of these high end devices. I can see scratched glass and scuffed bezels after a battery swap being the next problem for Samsung!

Not much we can do right now but wait.

I wouldn't charge overnight or charge unsupervised, might want to turn off fast charging as that normally heats the battery some and be sure an use Samsung charging.

Might all be unnecessary, but won't hurt anything. Samsung should make a statement soon.

Re: What happens if the Note 7 is recalled?

Ugh it will be super annoying if we end up with refurbished phones at the end of this when I could walk into a store tomorrow and return them, then re-order in a week for brand new phones.

Of course, nothing will be announced in time :-/
