The HTC One will be a hit, pass Galaxy S4 for ONE reason..

What's so terribly innovative about the "one"? It just feels more innovative because it came from HTC and HTC hasn't put out anything recently to get this much attention. "more of the same" is a good thing for Samsung, they're in a position that if it ain't broke don't fix it . The most popular argument here for the one over the s4 is that it isn't a Samsung product because the HTC fanboys think sammy is evil.

I never said the One was innovative. Because it isn't.

Hmnn. Is like you guys like to waste time and energy comparing s4 with HTC one. I like to see HTC produce a Google phone just like Samsung then I can compare. I am Google all the way. I so much hate to wait for months waiting for a simple update to fix issues. I will only swap my gnex with a superior of it. I am now waiting anxiously to see what Motorola is going to come up with. I am not buying a nexus 4 with a 16 GHz memory.

I'm an average consumer and having the ability to quickly swap a drained battery for a fresh one is of huge importance to me. I don't care about the SD card issue for the very reason you stated but both my son and I (we have the same phone) absolutely have depended on quick battery swaps innumerable times. We do what we want free from a cable to the wall or external battery charger. And when we need to swap out, it takes less than a minute to be back up and running again.

Out of curiousity, what do you see as being the big advantage of pulling out your battery and swapping it with another, vs using a portable external battery? You can get them now with 10,000+mAh, which should be enough to charge up any phone for a week, and you don't need to completely restart your phone in order to do so. I could see the argument for longer term, replacing an old, aging battery with a new one that charged better, but on a day-to-day usage basis I don't see much of an advantage.

You're spot on with this. I carry two phones around with me and if I had to carry two spare batteries, it would be a constant PITA to remove the case remove the back, remove and replace the battery.

I carry a 66oomAh power pack with me instead. it takes up only slightly more room than a battery would and means I can charge each phone twice over without restarting.

If the 'average consumer' were made aware of these power packs then I would hope they would want to go down this route. However, much is lauded about the fact you can remove a battery and replace it. Big whoop.

My 6600mAh power pack cost me ?19.99 (about $30), or the same price as a replacement OEM battery (prices vary of course), and will charge one phone more than four times over. It's a total no brainer.

Statement: Then the consumer would be able to use the same external battery pack for multiple devices and subsequently continue to use that investment despite the purchase of new hardware.
Query: Wouldn't this mean a deflation of revenue to aftermarket battery sellers and more freedom to consumers who can't live with a phone that can't have the battery replaced manually?
Query: Wouldn't this also mean eventually lowered cost and more competitive innovation in these battery packs; such as an external pack that might last one two months 'in the field', charging phones, tablets, Bluetooth devices and everything else we can think of, with no hassle or collection of spare parts to manage?
Query: Do the answers to the first two queries imply an obvious future necessary for the sustainability of pseudo-cybernetic enhancements, such as a HUD device (Google Glass), Android smart watch, portable three dimensional holographic imaging apparatus and the like?

I actually have an Anker Astro2 battery pack that I do use when appropriate, such as when I'm camping or on the couch and not feeling like being stuck to the wall but also not in need of a "quick charge." The removable battery allows my son to be out with his friends doing whatever, come home, swap batteries and head out to the mall. It allows me to have the immediate ability to swap to a fresh battery when I didn't have the chance to be wired to something while I was out and about.

One upcoming specific need is an all-day tailgating event. I don't want to walk around taking pics, video and text and have to have the battery pack strapped to me/my phone. Instead, I have it in the car feeding my extra battery. Thus, when my phone drains, I can quick-swap the battery and let the drained one recharge whilst I move along with my freshly charged phone. I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus and the tailgating is in an area with weak signal (for the Gnex, anyway), so the battery will be drained very quickly. <sigh>

I totally agree that the portable power packs have done a great deal to minimize the need for removable batteries but, for my family, it hasn't quite solved the convenience issue a removable battery allows.

Perfectly fair, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I definitely can see why a removable battery for you is a great idea. For me, it isn't anything that I am remotely interested in as for the most part my phone will stay static whilst charging even though I am not near a wall socket.

Removable batteries are soon to be a thing of the past and i don't care. I don't see a point. Like someone said, use a charge pack there more convenient when your far. Or i just use a car charger usually get like 20% extra at least

Because the main reason anybody wants the "one" is because it doesn't say Samsung anywhere on it and they are here for validation. You don't s see people taking about how good the "one" is, just bashing sammy so they feel better about not buying s4's

I was gonna get s4.. But i just cant stop looking at the htc design and thinking damn i need that

Don't let HTC fool you. Just because it looks like a quality phone, smells like a quality phone and sound like a quality phone doesn't mean HTC will make it so. Wait to see what happens before you rush out and buy it, don't make the same mistake I did

And you are perfectly entitled to have that opinion. :)

There seems to be far more positive threads on the HTC forums on Phandroid and AC than there are about the SGS4. There are more threads bashing the S4 than the HTC. Personally, I shall wait until I have both in my hands before making my decision.

Most packs have a USB port, so you can use it with any phone.
