The Jelly Bean OTA update is complete.

Re: The Jelly Bean OTA update has started. Post yours here.

And there you have it :-).

I was stock, rooted, unlocked, and the OTA just would not install.

Took me forever, had to revert back to a previous version altogether, and then clock work the OTA zip update manually.

After that, I attempted restore apps and SD from toolkit backup, which worked but apps were so messed up, and not all my SD files even came back.

So once I had jelly bean, I just did a factory reset, and started over with fresh app installs.

Finally after many hours of frustration, jelly belly is great.

I don't understand why the OTA just didn't overwrite, u wasn't even on a custom rom, just rooted and unlocked.

Oh well, with the overwhelming support by xda, I got all the files I needed to correct it.

So now I'm stock jelly, rooted and unlocked, and buttering my bread :-)

Cool! Getting the JB update now! Miss Gulf Coast.area. I tired a few dozen time to stop google framework a few days ago only to be shot down each time. Well I tried again tonight & after the first try...BAM!173.8Mb update! Doing mine over wifi at home. I'll get back in a while...

Yay! JB just downloaded and installed here in Seattle area.

Re: The Jelly Bean OTA update has started. Post yours here.

Battery life doesn't seem to be as good.

I'm with you on that. It seems to be dieing as quickly as my old EVO now. :(

I am finding the opposite to be true. It may be my imagination, but the battery life looks to have improved. I am, of course, using the 2100 mAh battery.
I will monitor throughout the day and post up my findings later.

Yes, I posted this . another thread on here. Battery Life sucks, even on the free 2100 mA battery from Sprint.

Yeah im getting a little tired of this crap. To get a nice operating system we have to sacrifice battery life?? That's 2010ish.

Yep. Other than that, JB is slick, fast, smooth on my GNex, but battery life keeps me from being able to use it daily without carrying extra batteries. Hard for me to do this in my profession (physician). I use alot of apps. Unfortunately had to go back to my S3. We'll see what the developers might come up with for improving battery life. I may then root and try it again as my daily.

It shouldn't be up to the developers, it should be googles responsibility to fix this. Needless to say this shouldn't be an issue in the first place.

Try letting the battery die completely. Recalibrate it. My first day with the update my battery died in 4 hours. Yesterday with heavy use I got 9 he's before I hit 15%.

Don't forget battery life has a lot to do with signal quality. We all know Sprint's signal quality is okay at best especially with the ongoing Network Vision upgrades. The harder your phone works to maintain a good 3g/4g (LTE) signal the more the battery gets sucked down. I saw a very good example of this a few weeks ago, overnight Sprint was working the upgrade in my area as they have been for months and something went crazy with the local tower messing with the signal going in and out.. I woke up in the morning to almost a dead battery from full sitting idle overnight. I looked at my battery stats and saw my signal coming and going all night long, which just ate up the battery.

Basically aside from our usage habits, apps, email & social media polling and more the main culprit in many cases is still signal when it comes down to our battery life.

Don't forget, new update and were playing with our phones to see what new goodies we have so the first few days isn't a fair judgement of the battery life. Look at things a week or so down the road when the upgrade fever wears off and you put your phone down and go back to your normal daily usage.

Paul, I will never argue that signal strength is the biggest destroyer of battery life. I do believe however that some of the butter has affected it though, such as the transition animations that you can't turn off and what not. Plus the new issue with wifi having a hard time staying connected or transferring data surely doesn't help anything.

For those that are curious about how much network signal affects the battery , check the screenshot below.

Folks like to sneer at Rim but at least Rim knows how to do a OS upgrade\update right. The day it is available you can download it install it on your computer, fire up Blackberry Desktop manager, plug in your phone and BDM automatically launches a window detecting the upgrade \update and asks if you want to install it.

The mighty google "King of innovation" apparently can't figure out how to upgrade update it's OS except through a slow week long process of waiting.

Google does just fine rolling out an update to its GSM-Galaxy Nexus, no carrier interference. Remember this is Sprint that dictates when we get our update... Same as with Verizon, they also control when their updates roll out to the Galaxy Nexus.

Re: The Jelly Bean OTA update has started. Post yours here.

Carrier interference is only up until they decide to release the update. It's google pushing it out now, not Sprint.

And it is Google that decided on this week long process of pushing out the update.

The question is why? Samsung admitted that they had only sold 2 million galaxy Nexux in the U.S. and that includes those sold by Google and Verizon which had several months head start on Sprint. I doubt that Sprint GNexus is more than 30% of the total sales figure Samsung revealed.

I liked my blackberry I love my GNexus. The only thing I miss from BB is the user friendly BlackBerry Desktop manager it's odd that the proprietary Blackberry OS is more open and user friendly and customization (Without rooting or jumping through hoops or voiding your warranty ) than the open source android.

Re: The Jelly Bean OTA update has started. Post yours here.

After a bunch of framework resets, I was starting to despair, but I also force-stopped something called Sprint System Updates from the apps menu, as well as Google Services Framework, and now i'm getting the update as I type this! :)
This is my first post here i think and I just want to thank all the helpful users around here, I lurk a lot and fail to give my thanks often.

UPDATE:
Been running 4.1.1 successfully for hours now. Phone is still at normal temperature, i know that was an issue with some people. Super buttery, it really is noticeable. Google Now is really cool, been playing with it side by side with my mom's Siri. A few apps are acting differently, for example I have an app that changes the color of my notification light depending on the amount of juice i have left, it is currently not working at all. Other apps updated themselves and are working even better (they are faster, basically). The "click" sound that happens with you shut the screen off seems lagged half a second more. It used to be instant, now it happens after screen is already off after the blink animation. These are just some dumb details, i'm not too smart with tech so I'm not sure if i'm stating anything important or not. Enjoy JB everyone, it's here and it rocks

After trying the method more than 50 times, I got the update the FIRST time i cleared the Sprint System Update. Thanks
