The kinda-official LG G4 bootloop thread

They've already had me confirm that there is no water damage and that nothing happens when holding the power button and volume down at the same time. Once I told them I had no spare (gave it to a neighbor) they said they would prioritize it. Fingers are crossed.
Good luck!

I reside in Malaysia. My unit's SN begins with 505 too.

I contacted the LG Service Centre in Malaysia. They advised that the repair service for this model is only done byan outsourced party: Zitron Malaysia (M) Sdn Bhd. Upon locating the latter service centre, I was informed that they will not receive my phone for repair because it is an 'International Variant' and they would not have the parts to make the repair. I contacted the local LG Service Centre on this issue only to be informed that no one can help me further.

I am at a loss.

The one that you using is not officially in sell in your country?

I was there last year some time after I got my G4.

The G4 is only sold by importers there. The only real options are Apple and Samsung over there, alongside some Chinese OEMs.

Good luck!
Well I have to say ATT service was great. They even called LG while I was on the line. LG will repair the phone but I have to send it to them and it's a 9 or 10 day turnaround time. So I'm having ATT send me a refurb which should get here within 2 days. Local repair depot does not have any LG G4's in stock of course. Not the optimal solution but I don't have a spare at the moment. But as I say ATT customer service was great. It's not their fault that LG screwed up the manufacturing.

They're actually replacing it with what sure will be a refurb. But I'm fine with that. If I had to get it repaired it would take alot longer.

Is it me or does it seem like the number of people reporting problems seems to be slowing down? Is it possible the a limited number of the affected serial numbers are actually at risk? Just thinking...

I have a 505 which I got in July and after reading through the various threads on this and other forums, it seems like I didn't have a lot of the issues that others have reported like wiffi, screen issues, bad battery life, etc.

How many of you that ended up with the boot loop had any of the other problems/issues?

David

Myself and many others have reported no other issues at all. Other than the boot loop my first G4 was a beast. My referb is as well.

I have a dual sim model 818P and I had the same problem. They replaced the mobo + battery under warranty.

So, after posting yesterday about not having any problems and after starting a new thread about MM possibly incoming to the VZW G4, I plugged my G4 into my desktop and launched LG Update tool. Phone rebooted to a rainbow like screen and locked up.

This is the FIRST problem I've had with my "505" G4. After rebooting, all is fine, but to me, it is a ominous sign. Go figure, and on the day MM is supposed to roll out. I'll bet VZW will blame it on that. <facepalm>

That's the thing about this issue.

There's practically NO warning sign. It just comes on unexpectedly.

If you were able to reboot at all it MAY not be this issue. From what I've seen the phone just dies without warning with very little chance to reboot at all.

Yeah, was able to reboot and all is OK, did a backup of contacts and settings to me SD card for good measure. I have rebooted several times since and it seems to be working OK....knocks on wood...

Murphy.... er, I mean David
