Another G4 in bootloop. Bought first LG just over a year a year ago as Samsung''s offering at the time had no ext. memory or replaceable battery. The store recommended the G4 and it seemed nice for about 14 months. Then about a month ago some weird things; some pictures would shoot fine but then get blocked out with grey squares and be labelled corupt. I read that this might be a sign of a failing ext mem card, but card was fine on everything else. So tried storing pictures to internal memory and same greying put... Then a couple funny reboots, then the failure to reboot at all. Read up and took it to dealer and they got RMA from LG and sent it in. But then the reply from repair center is they found a little evedence of liquid marks inside the screen and thus want 400$ to fix it. I had sent a note that the residue on the glass was from some alcohol I cleaned the USB jack with had wicked under the glass ... but that and the fact that the liquid detector by the sim slot is white didn't seem to matter, they want to sidestep fixing it. They also want 25 bucks just to return the phone, which is something I never heard of or agreed to. So just starting a fight with them and others. Sasktel is my carrier. I'm thinking LG stands for Low-end Garbage after my first experience with them... should put that on a red stop sign as a graffic and let friends know about them and their practices .
Some say you can buy an eMMC chip off Ali express and replace the MultiMedia Controller, but that soldering looks tricky. And do I really want to bother...
My phone is/was a 815 in the 505 range. My loaner is a Samsung, as will likely be my next phone. Also cell phones from Costco's cell kios may be coming with an extra year of warrantee soon,,, nice, not the manufacturer won't look for ways to get out of warranty..
