Source Confirms Recent HTC One M9 Leaked Images Were Of A Decoy Test Unit And Not The Final Product | Androidheadlines.com

So a source 'familiar with the matter' has informed HTC Source that the pictures floating out recently are real - they're just of the decoy units that have been handed out for testing and not representative of the final design.

http://htcsource.com/2015/01/htc-hima-and-the-launch-day-conundrum/
Article from Evan Blass (evleaks) pretty much confirming that the M9 looks quite different from the M8.

Android Central's Phil Nickinson and Alex Dobie have both suggested that what we've seen are just dummy cases for the M9, as this is something HTC have done in the past with the One M7 (but not the M8 last year).

So I guess for those unhappy with the leaks, there's some hope that it may not be the final design of the phone and the real design is still unknown.

Let me know what you think. Were you happy with the M9 leaked images or would you rather something that looks more differentiated from the One M8?

I had, almost, already ruled it out because of the leaked images. Had my focus turned to the LG G4. Now with this news I'm becoming more interested to see what HTC can do. I'm still a bit skeptical though. Not expecting it to be much of a change from the M8.

Sounds a lot like the bgr leaked concept from a few months back....take a look basically describes this report quite well.

If that ends up being the case I will be extremely excited to pick up my new m9

It actually sounds more like the Butterfly/Droid DNA to me with the full glass front and the speakers pushed out to the edge. Honestly though, I'm kind of hoping they'll come out with an equally impressive larger phone in the 5.5" range. The hints at the "ultra" version sound like they're probably not destined for the US, which would be a bummer.

id assume the leaks are pretty accurate. htc doesn't need to totally redesign it. on a side note, im not impressed with the latest benchmarks. im hoping htc either delays this device until they revise the s810 or they go with a different cpu totally. mediatek or the samsung made one.

Seems like the leaked M9 pics are wrong with more leaks coming out about the real final design: Exclusive: HTC One M9/Hima black bar, speaker panel design details | HTC Source

No black bar, speakers on the top and bottom of the device covered in glass rather than having the plastic cutouts.

Supposedly looks 'slicker' and 'more refined'.

Sounding better and better with every new leak. But call me pessimistic, I still don't buy it.

Nothing is confirmed, and I was iffy on it as well. But when evleaks came out and wrote that article about it, I started believing it more.

It does sound like a great device. Checks a lot of boxes for me. 5"-5.2" 1080p screen (happy with 1080p over 1440p), new camera better in outdoor/well lit areas, new design, I assume metal body and boomsound again.

Could be the flagship of 2015 for me.

Me too, if it does end up looking like the recent evleaks it will be a day one purchase for me.

The evleaks look a lot better! My Interest in the M9 grows deeper. Here's hoping HTC delivers and I can kiss my aging M7 good bye. crosses fingers

i just want to know what they will do for the cpu since it appears the s810 is being revised.
Where did you hear this? Word is Samsung is switching due to performance and business reasons, not overheating.

You need to look in other places then. Samsung dropped s810, rather than asking for it to be redesigned. And they were probably never going to use it anyway, they want to push Exynos now that they have their own modem for it. HTC and LG are sticking with the s810.

I have seen people stating it but no actual real news regarding this. Also add to the fact the LG Flex is using the s810 seemingly without any issues.

I think a large part of these rumor stem from Samsung not using the chip, it has nothing to do with it being bad or needing a redesign. This was always going to happen in time with Samsung, they just needed to increase capacity to move all their phones over to their own chips.

Competition is good, in the end this will make everyone work harder to be the best in my opinion.

A google search will show there are issues. Lg admitted today the flex 2 had issues with testing. They also threatened to sue qualcom if they revised the 810 after they already manufactured lg phones with it.
