The LG G3 has arrived :-)

Re: G3 or Note 4

N4 is a very nice phone. The new design is a plus along with the screen. I'm not an S-pen fan. There's not enough to sway me from my sweet G3 but if there was no G3 I'd get one.

Sent from Frope's sweet G3.

Re: Root Modifications

Sorry to hear that, no issues here (trust me, I would definitely say if there were).

THAT'S SETTING IS EVIL!!!!!! :)

It will add a delay to the home button..... So if you use it, don't complain that the phone 'lags' when you hit home. ;)

But I don't have the time or space to add the root mods.... basically a fair amount of Xposed modules.

By the way, I found that dropping the dpi density system-wide can have an adverse affect on screen renders... adds jitter sometimes. I use Xposed's App Settings to set the dpi scaling on a per-app basis, rather than system wide. You can fuss with the grid and icon sizes with Xposed stuff.

And in the end, I can do cool stuff like this:

Re: G3 or Note 4

I loved the Note 3 when I had it, but the size is tough to swallow. Its basically the Note 3 with a few extra bells and whistles. The metal around it does nothing for me. Not like the device is any more scratch proof or unbreakable. Im sure it will be great, but the g3 is a perfect size... Plus, I have all my app icons customized as well because of LG adding that cool feature. Its small, I know, but it gives my phone an extremely unique and different look than anyone elses.

Re: Root Modifications

1. Can we delete Carrier IQ on AT&T?
2. Any hope that FM radio can be restored or Spirit made to function?

Re: Root Modifications

I don't have that setting turned on but when I hit the him e button it pauses and turns white then goes to home screen. Rooting has made my phone worse instead of better. Have I done something wrong?

Re: G3 or Note 4

For me the Note 4 would just be to big. Again as people have been saying, the screen you get for the size on my G3 is awesome. I was initially worried on the size of the G3 coming from an S3, but in fact, it isn't that much bigger really .. the note 4 would just be to large

Plus looking at the design, it just looks boring ..... same old same old Samsung design

Re: Root Modifications

When my phone is root, I always remove Emergency dial button in lock screen because it's useless in my country and it's annoying when my hand accidently touch that.

I can't imagine root being the cause. It really does nothing other than allow you modify.

Re: G3 or Note 4

The more I look at the Note 4, the more I am tempted to purchase.

Things I like are the design (not as good as the G3) but its one that I do like. The New metal construction and 2d glass front well it peaks my interest.

The physical home button would be my only gripe as I have grown used to on screen navigation. I much prefer this and would that home key annoy me now probably at first. This is a small gripe.

I would due to finances have to sell my Z2 as I won't part with the G3.

So right now that split second is growing and I'm now thinking is it worth it?

Overall I like what Samsung have done throughout with the Note 4. But I also like my Z2 for many reasons and it may have slightly lower specs but it has everything I like.

TBC....lol

Re: G3 or Note 4

I was also waiting on the n4 but i'll stick with G3

strangely my only issue with the G3 is in fact the screen (auto brightness is rubbish and gets hot quickly ) - other than that the phone is pretty much perfect....

*p.s i originally swapped note 3 for g3 FYI

Re: Root Modifications

I wouldn't have thought so either. But there is a delay when pressing the home button.

Re: G3 or Note 4

I was waiting for the Note 4 until I tried the G3...not switching back to Samsung

I would like to know your reasons !?! I'm about to choose between LG and Samsung and any advice is important for me to make the best choice for me!

Re: G3 or Note 4

I was looking forward to seeing the note 4 but after seeing it I won't be switching. To me I would be making to many sacrifices to switch. I love the on screen buttons. I love the rear buttons. This thing flies. Screen awesome.

I had the Note 3 and I didn't use the s pen. Touchwiz was laggy. It actually feels much wider to use and is harder to hold and I have large hands. LG packed a large screen into a small package. And overall I don't like to looks of the note 4 compared to the g3.

Not saying the note 4 is a bad device. It is a excellent device. Just not for me as in would be giving up to many things I like about the g3 to switch.

Re: G3 or Note 4

Samsung always has nice devices loaded with cool features that aren't really needed. Is the UV ray thing cool? Yep, it's pretty awesome. Would I ever use it? Maybe once in a while just to feel cool, but probably not really. Heart rate monitor? Don't care.

The Note 4 looks nice, but I'm not into the metal phone craze, the G3 design trumps the S4 in my opinion. No doubt the Note 4 will be an awesome piece of tech, and I'm sure it will sell like crazy (it's Samsung after all), but I'll stick with my G3.

Re: G3 or Note 4

If the G3 didnt exist then i would for the Note 4. But then again i will still have my Note 3 and i dont think i will trade it in for the Note 4, but i would like the Note edge tho.

Re: G3 or Note 4

Typical Samsung boring design, at least they are consistent. That being said and coming from a Note 3 prior to the G3, I am sure it will turn out to be a solid, amazing device. Not crazy about the added height considering size was one the main reasons I left the Note 3.
At least it's a solid option if my G3 ever gives me the dreaded overheating warning and shuts down. I would gladly deal with the size versus a phone that doesn't operate as it should. Hope that does not come, really digging the G3.

I like the design as I did with the Note 3...but yeh Samsung didn't change it enough..

The G3 introduced differences enough to see that its an upgrade over the G2. I have said it many times that the G3's design is spot on and without any doubt its in a different class than the Note 4 and its still plastic.

But there are enough design tweaks that I'm thinking of selling the Z2....one thing and its so trivial to some is the physical home button..I really do dislike it now...

Re: G3 or Note 4

I'm a big fan of the LG G2 and G3, but come on, you can say LG introduced enough differences to G3 to consider it an upgrade but you say Samsung didnt change it enough? If you listed the changes from G2 to G3, you could almost see a match from Note 3 to 4 and some specs are more significant jumps than whats on the G3.

You have the CPU going to 805 where went from 800 to 801 and they go to a andreno 420 gpu.
they go 1080 to quad hd like LG
they go 13mp camera to 16mp higher than us with IOS AND they go 3.7mp up front with wide angle front selfie ability.
We have a UI change and look while they also have some new looks like L-style multitasking and wide angle selfie and other features.

To me, it's a solid update in specs... class leading at this point to some degree. is it worth the upgrade to note 3 to 4? eh... i don't think so. but then i don't think the changes where that great that it's really worth the upgrade from G2 to G3. I don't plan on carrying spare batteries so removeable battery doesnt do anything for me as well as SD card. I do love the camera on the G3 much much more than the G2.
