If WP had 1 million apps in their store, they still would not be able to compete with Android and iOS. Apps are not their problem.
It is for me. I like a lot of things about their operating system and would get the 1520 in a heartbeat if some key apps I needed were there.

I don't think it would be for most people. And I am a huge Microsoft fanboy on the desktop side.
WP's problem is that it is not offering anything new or different. Android already does everything it does. And Apple's closed system benefits are better because Apple is better at the closed system. WP is the worst of both worlds. More apps is just putting a bandaid on a hatchet wound.
I had the 1520 for a week. Nice phone but the lack of several key apps AND the fact that trying to use the web browser to mitigate the lack of apps didn't work...I just couldn't live with it. However, that was one beautiful piece of hardware with a delicious screen.

I think it does have something to offer, a more integrated Microsoft experience. I like what I see in it. But again, it is about 4 apps away for me.

Well, the Lumias have great cameras and I could easily see that in the photos even the 1520 took.

I think the biggest app issue for me was video chat. If they had Google Hangouts I would really consider giving it a shot.

Never said that they didn't. It was funny when the gold iPhone came out, and Samesung rushed a gold Galaxy to market.
This is an iPhone 4 lockscreen. Who copied who? And Android copied multitasking from Palm OS.
