The mobile OS war is over

In the past I had a great love of Android. ...just couldn't get enough. Then I got bored with all I had to do to make it attractive to me. I'm hoping that maybe the LG G Pro 2 or G3 will interest me enough to make the work worth it.

But then again, there's no telling what Apple will bring to the table. 😄

A bigger screen? Don't see them doing much honestly.

With Apple, you never know. But I would guess a bigger screen, and the usual tweaks, with a lot of emphasis on the camera.

I would take all three Apple products over the Google products you named. The fact is though I cannot afford all three of the Apple products. This is why many people choose Android over iOS. I went from a iPhone 4 to a Nexus 5 because it was cheaper and offered "stock android" . The truth us though I still prefer my iPhone 4 over the Nexus. And don't give me the walled garden, Google is gradually removing all the features from Android that it slated iOS for not having; flash, expandable storage and otg support (even though there are apps that can restore some if these functions). Plus the amount of advertising you get on Android apps compared to the equivalent iOS app is a real pain in the backside. The messaging function in Hangouts is a joke compared to imessage. Also for business use iWork beats the crap out of QuickOffice. Apart from the Nexus having a better camera and a bigger screen my iPhone4 meets more if my daily needs. Even watching Youtube over 3g is better on the iPhone4; even though the Nexus loads the video quicker, the iPhone4 plays it more smoothly and at a higher quality. Youtube over 3G on the Nexus is actually quite blocky. Also the heat from the Nexus after prolonged use makes it uncomfortabke to hold.

Heat? My gfs iPhone 5s almost burned my hand. Android will always 1 up apple in flexibility and convenience. I've compared the 5S to my Nexus 5. Then again I'm a IT guy so maybe that's why I i like android. For me apple is locked down to what apple wants and featureless. I know for a facted. Play with both phones side by side.

The funny thing is android users tend to be more tech savvy. Now that's a stereotype, but by looking at Apple product reviews the first comments are android users crying about processor speeds and other features.

Ummm. Wouldn't the tech savvy guys know which one is technically better? I mean it is technology. Now if you like what you like then that's what you like.

There's lots of us IT guys around here. I've been in the business since '96. Though I had a lot of android devices I'm currently enjoying my iOS devices most. I found that I have to spend time tuning and tweaking android for it to be usable for me. Stock android was always to plain (in a bad way) to me and the skins out there...some are unnecessarily heavy. A launcher? That only touches the surface and doesn't correct what TouchWiz does to molest a device, in example.

On my G Pad 8.3, for instance, Nova Prime does a lot to make the tablet more enjoyable but the tablet is still laggy compared to what I'm used to with iOS. For some reason stock iOS 7.1 is pleasantly simple to me and, IME, nastily fast. I may be just getting old but right now I'm loving what iOS offers. That said, I stopped in a Best Buy this evening and the G2 is still beautiful and brings back pleasant and fond memories of sliqness.

To me LG is one of many that is getting it right but that doesn't mean iOS isn't wonderfully straight-forward.
I don't feel like Android "1-ups" iOS in any ways that are significant to me.

And the funny thing is that they are often wrong, as it has been shown time and time again that Apple has able to eke out better performance out of its "slower" processors because they optimize their software and hardware together.

Or they go on a tangent claiming how they can root their phones to do this and that, not realizing that it is not really a feasible option for many a user. Reminds me of an early poster who claimed an iPad was crap because he could hack a nook to run android and support flash.

Just because something can be done doesn't necessarily mean it is useful, that it should be done or that it is even the best way of doing it.

I think all platforms have their merits, but I also believe that more than anything, trends are ruling how the market works. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it does push out less popular manufacturers and puts more favor of those brands/manufacturers that are more in style. That's not to say the most popular ones don't have a lot to offer, because they do. But there are manufacturers who deserve some love too.
