The new header layout is a regression

The thread notification issue should probably have its own thread, but can we please get back to the header layout problem? That was reported almost a year and a half ago and still nothing has been done to fix it.

What is currently broken? There have been quite a few updates since this thread originally went up. What isn't working?

As I have posted and attached screenshots for many times, whenever I click on the arrow to see new posts, the banner covers up the top of the first new post, which requires me to scroll up to see the beginning of the post. Here is another screenshot of what happened when I clicked on your reply.

James please correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't that bar being there and minimized until scrolling occurs the intended action?

Yes, the bar goes away when I scroll down, but stays there or reappears when I scroll up. That part is okay, but the problem is the position of the page under the bar. When I first visit a new post, the bar covers up the first line or two of the new post, forcing me to scroll up to see the entire post. In your example, with the bar there, I can't see the username of the poster or the time it was posted. In others it covers up the first line or two of the text in the post.

The header nav bar still hides/unhides using a desktop browser (ex. IE11, Chrome, Firefox) on a PC, so there must have been a fix specifically for the AOSP based Samsung browser (ex. to detect when it's being used and disable the hide/unhide behavior?). There is still the issue though where the header nav bar will drop down covering part of a new post as documented here. But it appears to be isolated to just Chrome whereas on IE11 it hides itself once the page finishes loading.

Thanks! Chrome is all I use, so maybe it will help the devs to know that the issue I've been reporting is only with Chrome.

The header is not there on Chrome Desktop for me; doesn't appear or disappear with scrolling.

Ok I'm using Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 Pro both 64 bit, Chrome 32 bit on both. I wonder what is different. It might be a difference in Chrome extensions.

Now the banner is gone completely for me when I go to new replies, so I'm happy with that! Should I start another post about not getting notified of new posts that I have signed up to follow?
