The Next Google Nexus Device

I'm hoping that Google lets Asus, HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and Panasonic get first dibs. Sony, LG and Hauwei can sit on the sidelines.

I'm sure HTC, Samsung and Motorola will be in the top for Nexus devices.

Panasonic or Sharp would be a interesting choice as well.

I agree.

On a side note, why not LG or Sony? You don't think they could make a first rate product?

LG is ok but I'm worried about the design of the hardware. Sony could be ok but we've seen what they can do. Sharp could make a comeback to the states after the Sidekick fiasco.

Heh. Reading back a few pages I'll have to offer a new take. Have to categorize my wishes :)

Fantasy: Panasonic or Sharp. Totally unrealistic, but it would be cool, exciting, and interesting to see what they could do with Google's help.

Preference: Motorola or HTC. I like everything HTC does except power buttons. I also like Motorola a lot, but as many in the press have pointed out, if Google shows any favoritism towards Motorola, they will likely lose Samsung and HTC, so that probably just won't happen.

And the real McCoy: Samsung. Looks like Google chose them, but I'm not the least bit excited or interested in another Samsung Nexus phone. Honestly, it will be done decently and with good specs, but design wise, Samsung does not innovate, they mainly take existing designs and touch them up. Honestly.

Looks like the next Nexus will be a Samsung that is part of a family of Samsung products. Will basically be nice specs with a pure Android interface. Meh. Not terrible, but certainly not awesome.

Please noooooo!!!

I like my unlocked GNex but frankly it could have been so much more had it gone back to HTC. The Nexus One was and still remains the biggest leap in Android devices. I think it will take HTC to bring the future Nexus back to the forefront of technology.

Case in point - look how Sammy dropped the ball with the SIII and how HTC is shinning with the One X.

I love my old Nexus One, but HTC needs to get Google to let them build it based on a agreement of the phone being designed like the One XL, the specs determined by Google, and add a notification light and a trackball. Make it in four base colors while each carrier gets an exclusive color.

Hasn't it been confirmed Samsung? Its cool to hope some other OEM can make it. But let's be honest Samsung has Android locked down. Google wants to sell Nexus devices so of course they will pair with the company who has done the most for there OS.

Yeah. I like it. Except like someone mentioned earlier, Google REALLY needs to sell the Nexus phone exclusively through the Google store. That is the tradeoff to remaining pure to their vision. Selling it through the carriers will get more sales, but it will get watered down. Let the Nexus be a gift to Android fanboys and everything else can go through carriers!

I'd like to see HTC make the next nexus the true HD screen on the evo 4g lte is amazing.

I don't like the fact that amoled screens particularly Samsungs tend to be oversaturated.

I'd like to see a Motorola mobility version, now that Google owns them.

People keep forgetting that the "Nexus" models are not halo phones, they're dev platforms. No manufacturer is going to shoot their own halo lines in the foot by creating a Nexus dev model that kills their Galaxy S or One or RAZR or whatever.

That being said, they should NOT be sold primarily by carriers, because carriers (do you hear me now Verizon?) want to inject their own code. Which means it's not a vanilla dev platform anymore. This would suck for CDMA users, but such is life.

And they're more app dev phones than they are ROM phones.

T-Mobile was the northern red headed stepchild in the last "Nexus" lottery (read, left out).

I hope this doesnt happen to the next version of the Nexus.

I can see Motorola or LG getting the next one.

I want a non Sammysung Jelly Bean Nexus phone with a memory card slot and NFC.

Are you listening Google ?

Not particularly interested in a tablet either.
