No worries at all, I felt bad and had to respond. Even though I am not liking Samsung USA as a company I do like their phones nonetheless but we are about to throw in the towel.

Yeah I felt bad too but we are good:) I definitely understand that and it is sad to like a company phone but be close to throwing in the towel. Sorry to hear that but you gotta do what is right for you and your family. Maybe in the future Samsung might win you back if you do end up going elsewhere;)

Hi guys,
I didn't mean to make it sound like you don't know what your doing. Its just that there are some that might not know what to look at or where exactly. All I do know is that officially now I have seen at least a dozen Note 8's and every single one has been consistent in light leak along the two sides.
Got the exact same issue as you in picture 2, it's going back tomorrow!

Hi Poppy,
Don't waste your time swapping it out. I personally have not physically seen a Note 8 yet that didn't exhibit this light leak issue. I will say that the curved screen has nothing at all to do with it because the light leaks out of two spots on the top edge of the Note 8 too, and that area is not curved.

It's sloppy manufacturing with ZERO QC. Period.

I don't have any light leakage. Two note 8 devices on AT&T. First one I had to exchange due to a software failure. And the second one has zero issue.

Mine does it, but I don't think it's from a physical separation of the pieces. It looks more like haphazard manufacturing of the front glass, which resulted in a uneven application of the black painting. (where it's leaking, it looks like the type of edge you would get if you were painting a stripe on a wall and paint leaked under your painters tape)

Now that I'm thinking about it, it could be caused by adhesive damaging the black on the screen, which would account for the unevenness.

I guess I was unlucky all my replacements had this light bleed. Even went to an att corporate store to return and compare theirs. And they all had it too -.- and some have it worse than others. Anywho I'm just going to enjoy the phone now. I hope Samsung does better next time for us ocd pple that notice this things. PS the explanation att Representatives gave me. It's because it's a curved screen ooookay. I kinda wanna see how apple does. Not switching just wondering.

If I have it, it's not enough to bother me, and if I really have to hunt for it, then it's not that big a deal (for me). Plus, I was thinking - I'd really hate to try to swap mine out after I already installed a $50 Whitestone Dome screen protector on it, and would have to buy another one for a replacement.

Sorry for you guys who it really bothers! Sincerely!

Mine has it as well (more on left side than right) but I'm just going to ignore it and enjoy the phone. Plus, it's really only visible in a dark environment. I don't see any glass separation so I don't think I will have to worry about water resistant feature. I just don't want to go through the whole hassle of exchanging it only to gamble that the next one won't have it.

Dang I just realized this on my note 8 from Sprint. I saw this post a few days and glanced at mine and didn't see anything. Today I saw it again so I double checked. I went to a dark room and jacked up the brightness. Yup, mine looks like that too. I'm worried it isn't going to be quite as water resistant if I can see light coming through!! 😣😣

I have actually seen this issue with the curved screened Samsung phones since the Galaxy S6. I have had this on the 6 edge, 7 edge, and 8+. Just picked up my Note 8 today so I will see later if this has it too.

This was posted at xda developers. There are a lot of people talking about it over there. Apparently Samsung doesn't consider it an issue or considers it to be something that's within tolerance. I have two Note 8s and both of them have it along the edges, mostly all along the left edge. Speculation is that it doesn't have to do with a space between the body of the phone and the screen. It's an issue with the black at the base of the screen not going all of the way to the bottom of the screen. Originally, I was planning on exchanging them. People over there have said that this has been an issue since the first curved Samsung screen came out. It seems like a pretty common issue and given that I got two from two different locations and they both have them, I'm just throwing a case on it and forgetting about it. It's annoying now. Let's see if I even remember it is there a month from now, especially with it in a case. It is not really visible when in a case that has good edge covering.

Hello guy, we have the same problem here in Vietnam, and this happen alot, they didn't admit it a issue and refuses exchange the phone. The technicall guy told me everyone have it and it like "feature".

Does anyone think this affects waterproofing? I have seen this on all 10+ note 8 I've seen in person. Not sure what to make of it.

I doubt it would. It's mainly a cosmetic issue that mostly goes unnoticed by,most and obviously by Samsung's QC.

I asked Erica Griffin if she had it on her Note 8 since she didn't mention it in her latest review and she said she has leak on one side of her phone but didn't mention because she's accepted this as normal by now since she first mentioned in S8 review.

I had the s8 plus and didn't notice it. Of course I didn't even look for it on the note 8 until I saw this thread. Now I see it on every one I look at smh. Wish I had just never noticed it lol.

I am also having this same light leakage issue, got my Note 8 recently and just started noticing this light leakage in the right side where we have volume and bixby keys. I'm yet to approach Samsung. Hope they will replace it..
