The Official "I Got My Nexus S" Thread

Can't wait til my upgrade is here June 1st to pick one of these up. Running CM7 on my EVO for a while now and just love vanilla android. I'm almost tempted to ask Sprint if I can move my upgrade up a few weeks, trying to be patient.... :)

Call sprint and ask to speak to someone in account services. Any rep can bump your upgrade date up 2 weeks but account services can do more than 2 weeks.

Well Brooklyn Bay Ridge store turned out to be useless. "We can't sell it to you today"

The one store I had originally planned on purchasing the phone from, when I called them I told them I wanted to purchase it from them and I had heard from another store that Sprint was selling the nexus S early due to a soft launch. The guy went and spoke with his manager and he said he approved it.

This is how it was explained to me why some stores are selling early and some are not. Apparently, Samsung CHOSE certain stores to have a soft release. It could have been a corporate store or a regular store, it was their decision. My store was not one of the chosen, unfortunately, so I must wait until tomorrow. They have my 2 ready for me when I go in. I was first on their list.

You should try to upgrade now. I saw a guy who was not eligible until Oct and they moved him up to now. It won't hurt to ask. After the change in upgrade terms I think they are trying to keep everyone with them as long as possible.

I gave it a shot and I thought I was in but the phone rang up $5400 and I was told they just sold one a few hours earlier. I guess I wait till Monday. I'm doing the mother?s day thing Sunday so no go on Sunday. The manager was pretty cool and told me she would give me a free accessory on Monday for the wait. What do you think that will be? I?m guessing it?s a cheap phone cover.

$449 cannot be right. Everything I have been seeing is $699 which is a non-starter for me. I'll spend $500 for this phone, but not $700. I hope to see this story about $499 being true as I'm in. I love my EVO but this would be sweet.

no type o! that was the price. I guess sprint got wind that some stores were selling the phone early and changed the price to put a stop to it. it will be 199 tomorow

Okay so just wondering, should I get this phone? I'm currently a palm Pre user on sprint and my contract is up soon. Should I get this phone or wait for a galaxy s2 variant to come out? Idk how long I can wait and ns is my favorite phone out right now but the gs2 looks very very promising. It's so powerful. Anyways, can someone just tell me their thoughts about the device? Like is it fast enough and powerful enough to last me another 2 years?

I just confirmed with my local Sprint store that they will have off contract Nexus S for $449. much better than the $699 best buy was advertising.

It should be powerful enough to last you for two years if you wait that long. I'm not sure why everything thinks these phones are not powerful enough. What are you people doing with these phones? Go for the nexus s. If you don't like you can always return.

Haha I feel you on that. As much as I love webos I need new hardware. I know the nexus S will give me enough speed and power until hopefully a nice new webos phone hits. I still think the dual core phones are more for show than anything right now. Unless your running mutli apps that are running in the background not in a frozen state. Then I can see I guess.

yeah, but two years from now, I can hopefully still just sit on my EVO 3D a little longer while I stretch my wait time for a new phone, haha.

Though, if it comes out at $300... Nexus S it is.

I wonder if they're rolling out availability on sprint.com by time zone. I'm in Denver and can't purchase yet.

That's weird...I'm 1 hour ahead of you in Omaha with Central Standard Time, automatous. Maybe it's coming from East to West?
