The Official I Pre ordered the Evo

Paid $50 plus tax at Best Buy. Filled out an EVO form with my info. Got a GC good towards the phone price. Will pick it up on the 4th.

do they apply the 50 bucks first and tax you on 149.99 now or do they tax the whole 199 and then apply the gift card to the ~$216.xx because paying extra tax would suck. this is the first time ive ever paid $54.xx for a 50.00 gift card.

I already posted in another topic, they tried to do that to me (double tax) on BB, and I canceled it there and went to RS (they do not tax you on the gift card there)...

My girl pre ordered for me on day one and was the first one at the store. The guy at the counter didn't even know they were doing pre orders.

pre ordered mine at best buy and haven't bought a gift card in a long time, didn't know about the no tax thing. paid 53.00 (Michigan 6%). will i get this off the phone? or did i just blow $3? wouldn't be the first or last time for that!

Don't even know if it is worth pre-ordering for me. I can't upgrade until early July and by then I am hoping they have more in stock.

Make sure when you pick up the EVO you get credited for the full amount plus tax. I've spoken with corporate and those of us who were charged tax on the gift card were victims of a programing error.

If you want to be on the safe side I'd contact this lady Coral Biegler <Coral.Biegler@bestbuy.com>

I am going to pre order at Best Buy on Monday when I get back from my business trip from California. My second line isn't eligible yet, so I am going to land up buying the second phone for retail price at Sprint, since it's supposed to be cheaper there than at Best Buy or Radio Shack.

We have less than 3 weeks to wait, that's the bad news, the good news is that this feels like christmas, or should I say the preparation time before christmas, because every day more and more info comes out, and hopefully soon we will get to see all the bloggers' video reviews of the phone to get us excited even more. Ah yes, new phone season, my second most favorite time of the year!
Did you call Sprint on your update date? My date is June 6th but am elgible for update on June 1st. If you have not called them, try and see what they say. Good Luck

No idea if this counts as pre-ordering, but I got Sprint to have my local Sprint Store put one on hold for me on the 4th.

They also put a note in our account telling them to give it to us for free. We'll see how that pans out.

hi everyone hope some one can answer my question in order to preorder the phone,do you need to be a sprint customer eligible for upgrade? or can i open a new contract to pre order it? thanks

Yes you can open a new plan with the preorder.

I just preordered today at radioshack. cant wait! 19 days!

Pre-ordered today at RadioShack. I'll be coming from AT&T & years of BlackBerry for the HTC EVO.

Pre-ordered yesterday at Best Buy. I'm number 12 at my store. I had to wait for Sprint to change my upgrade date from 7/1 to 6/1. Retentions ended up changing it to 5/1. I'm just glad I won't have to wait until July.

I pre-ordered today at Best Buy. The guy said they already had taken about 50 pre-orders.

I did the pre order at BB. Was actually the 1s one to do so. THe employees didn't even know the pre order was available until I told them and they checked their e-mail for a SKU.

Now I just wish there was some kind of stasis chamber I could climb into for the next 19 days because this wait is killing me... :)

I pre-ordered mine at BB last week. I was the first pre-order customer in my city :D kudos to me.... yo se!
