The Official Release Date Speculation Thread

I don't know. I tend to think that the people that truly wanted the best phone probably did some research. I mean I pretty much figured it was because of the iPhone launch also, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that the people who got the iPhone got the iPhone because they want to be "cool" and they were simply waiting for the iPhone.

I mean I'm sure if the Thunderbolt was advertised before the end of the iPhone return window there would be some returns, but I don't think there would be a ton.

Yes, although you may be giving too much credit as "best' if very subjective. But the target is not those people. It's those that haven't done the research or very little and just want a new phone. Scenario ... Customer walks into the store ... Sales rep. shows them the iPhone, which I'm sure they've heard of ... Customer thinks it's cool and buys it. This type of scenario happens everyday I'm sure, but there are others too, such as "my best friend has an iPhone and loves it, I'm gonna get one now." In each case, it gets much more complicated if customer has another option and says, "What's this Thunderbolt phone?"

I essentially meant the best phone for them. Now granted I didn't know about the simultaneous voice and data over 3G on the Thunderbolt until about a week ago, but I don't know if that would have really mattered to the people who truly wanted the iPhone.

Now don't get me wrong, if I knew anyone personally that was planning on getting a Verizon iPhone I would stop them in a heart beat and tell them to not be stupid and be locked into a inferior phone for 2 years when Verizon is in the middle of a huge transition, but unfortunately, there are a lot of people that are obsessed with Apple and don't care because it's Apple.

Maybe it's a mis-print. I think the Inspire is supposed to be the Bolt. :D

well if you compare the info on the side of the pic it sure looks like it but that is defiantly the Inspire, pic and price point prove that.

Not really, for people who are waiting to get the VZ iphone 4 and finally they got it. They will not so easily to return the iphone 4 after such a long waiting period.

Iphone 4 already be sold on the market for more than half year, and the iphone 5 is just coming to the door. At this time point, if someone still want to get a VZ iphone 4, then they must be very familar / exciting with the iphone 4 for long time and knew what they are doing. They won't return it so easily.

To sum up, if VZ delays the TB just becuase of the iphone 4 issue, then VZ just lose their advantage in android 4G market. And that didn't help to get any specific advantage to "lock" iphone 4 users much.

This whole thing is a mess and very disappointing. I'm still gonna get but you have no choice but to shake your head at how all this has turned out.

It's only a mess because that's what you people are making it. I mean jesus, VZ hasn't even announced anything yet. You are all just drawing conclusions derived from your delusional hopes. Guys, just relax... you'll see it soon, it's a phone.

agreed but once we get this phone we will all quickly switch track form being upset to amazement... I remember how pissed I was when the Storm 2 came out an there was no upgrade option for me and how terrible my Storm but as soon as it was all over and the OS fix came out for my phone I was in awe with how much better it work.

This is exactly why the phone got delayed, black_man_x from twitter stated that they found an LTE handoff issue and just got a software update to fix the problem, so my guess is there updating the units before they go on sale.
Would we all rather have a phone that has a bug that was being worked on but didn't get fixed, it was released, we buy it and were pissed because it doesn't work right? or would we rather have a phone that works 100% correctly out of the box to enjoy right after we turn it on :P

yeah, i thought so LOL :P

All manufacturers put confidentiality requests on their devices until they are released, regardless of whether there are test units out and about.

Keep in mind the initial launch was scheduled for mid to late March -- it's been pushed up. March 31st makes sense for the initial confidentiality request.

They aren't updating units with the software update. These things are in boxes in warehouses. It'll be an OTA update I am sure if its handset. It could also be a tower issue and not a device problem.

I doubt it's the DInc 2 simply because a little panda told me that the DInc 2 is non LTE.

Agreed. Apple is an evil company...but at least they always gave their customers a confirmed launch date.

On this case, VZW and BB is tooooooooo bad...

i already preordered the tb, but i called up BB to see when the preorder period ends and they said on the 16th.

i dont know if this is new info but it leads me to believe that the 17th is feasible..

i could care regardless, but its weird when they say that BB has "exclusiveness" and wirefly also says that they get it on the first day.
why stop taking preoders a week before the phone comes out? and why say youre have exclusive rights when they obviously dont?
its weird to say the least.

sorry for the double post but im gonna let my imagination run wild until i hear/read/see and official realease date from BB or Verizon.
