I don't know. I tend to think that the people that truly wanted the best phone probably did some research. I mean I pretty much figured it was because of the iPhone launch also, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that the people who got the iPhone got the iPhone because they want to be "cool" and they were simply waiting for the iPhone.
I mean I'm sure if the Thunderbolt was advertised before the end of the iPhone return window there would be some returns, but I don't think there would be a ton.
Yes, although you may be giving too much credit as "best' if very subjective. But the target is not those people. It's those that haven't done the research or very little and just want a new phone. Scenario ... Customer walks into the store ... Sales rep. shows them the iPhone, which I'm sure they've heard of ... Customer thinks it's cool and buys it. This type of scenario happens everyday I'm sure, but there are others too, such as "my best friend has an iPhone and loves it, I'm gonna get one now." In each case, it gets much more complicated if customer has another option and says, "What's this Thunderbolt phone?"
