The official S7 /S7 Edge review thread

Awesome, a lot of reading to do this evening!

My S7 has arrived today so I shall be taking low light comparison shots with the camera this evening vs my current Sony Z5 Compact. Camera was the main reason why I decided to upgrade so soon so it shall be very interesting to see how Samsung's new 12MP camera compares to Sony's 23MP camera.

I work 2nd shift so I am still at home just sitting here at the computer waiting for UPS 9:45 to 1:45 it's almost noon. I was hoping to activate it before I left for work. I am reading all the reviews now and it looks like it's the best phone on the market right now. And were coming from an M9 so we're gonna love it i am sure.

And now I'm a bit worried I shouldn't have preordered these because the yellow tinge images are going to drive me crazy. At least I have 14 days to return it.

I didnt pre-order but that issue also has me hesitant. My S6 had the same issue.

I've only had mine a day. Seems great so far. That said, I played reckless racing 3 on it and it didn't seem as good as it does on my xperia z2. Seemed to drop frames where as my xperia z2 plays it flawless. Not sure if it needs an update to run properly on the edge but it was strange.

I'm also coming from xperia z2 at the moment battery life is on par but I need a few more cycles to really let it settle down.

definitely not trolling meyerweb. shared my experience - coming from a Nexus, I expected better considering the upgraded specs + Marshmallow. Demo unit reviews in store may or may not represent real life usage with multiple apps an individual installs. I had all my apps installed and have been using this phone regularly and still notice stutter using Chrome. But then again, I also mentioned that it is nonexistent when using the Samsung browser. Clearly a case of optimization.

So far so good- im not overly impressed that 1/2 storage is gone- and this is with the sd card... but time will tell. Edge function is pretty baller. Bloatware has been disabled, and it is nice being able to use one hand for tecting again

I have to comment on a Verge review by the venerable guy with the white beard. You know who he is. First, I have to say I have had a lot of phones, including many iphones. This reviewer is a notorious Apple partisan. To say his review was biased is mild. This is a hatchet job. He has totally lost my respect as a reviewer, but at least he will still get his pre-release phones from Apple. Me, and a lot of reviewers, plus customers, are loving their Galaxy S7 Edge phones.

My first impressions are really good (S7).

This is the best performing phone I've ever used. It's ridiculously smooth. Scrolling, animations, everything. It's all butter. It's smoother than my work phone, the S6 edge, that's also running Marshmallow. It's smoother than the phone it's replacing, my Sony Z5 Compact, which is still stuck on Lollipop.

The camera is great too. While the Sony Z5 Compact produces more accurate colours and often captures more detail during daylight, at night the S7 really shines and handily beats Sony's camera capturing far more light and detail. The S7 also has better dynamic range at all times of day compared to the Z5 Compact.

To early to judge battery life, but it's better than the S6 edge, that's for sure.

I've had my 7 for two days now, operationally the phone seems pretty solid (no Lag, hangs etc) I have noticed a bit of heat and just this morning the phone has rebooted itself 3 times. Additionally, when I link to my car bluetooth, I am able to get numbers but no contact or directory information (was not at issue with my S5). Gonna check other forums to see if anyone else has started to experiance the reboot issue. Also looking for a decently priced "s-view" case.

I must say coming from the iPhone to this was a little of a software shock. I like the phone it's size... I wish it was a little more weighty though. Feels fragile. I actually miss the comfortability of internal storage, seeing as a lot of the stuff I have on here won't go to the SD card. The battery life isn't what the 6s plus is, but it's OK. Its like the battery for the 6s I initially had, then upgraded. I do love the customization. That's what Apple lacks and that's why I keep coming back. I'm curious to see what other former Apple users have to say. I have seen a few blips and have to remind myself that double tapping the home brings up the camera not the apps running. And it isnt great feeling having the home button back. Over all a solid phone for the first 48 hours of use. I am a fan, I just wish that it had the battery power and internal storage capacity like the iPhone... But you can't win them all. Cause I didnt exactly love the iPhone 6s plus either.

Low light shots are amazing with this phone, and I would recommend taking the phone and getting another one at a retailer it shouldn't have reboot problems ... Yet.

My battery lasts 4 hours and the phone runs extremely hot. My S3 runs better. Returning this phone. Not sure if I want to try another one yet. So far it has been very glitchy. I like being able to replace my battery in the S3 so will look at the LG G5 as well as considering waiting for the IPhone. I love my S3 so not sure why this phone is such a problem.
