Either one will be find as far as unlimited plans go. So far we have the Bonic scheduled towards the end of April, but I would hate to see it get pushed. Tiered plans will begin to show up towards the end of July. You have a 2-month buffer so the choice is yours!

@Bennnnn

Will they do pre orders for the bolt? Also if they do, how fast will they ship them and will I get it before launch day if I pre order?

I get that and my last one is coming up in September. What I don't understand is what this new specific ordering system is all about.

What was told exactly to me is the ordering system they had when iphone was released was a COMPLETELY seperate system to the normal one they use. Purpose was on release that not a single person was allowed to upgrade early through the phone customer service system. So for example I'm like 17 months into my 2 year upgrade, due to issues with my incredible they are offering to give my early upgrade and my last NE2 $50.00 bill credit. So when iphone was released they would of not been able to order me a iphone I would had to wait there was no method to let managers over ride the upgrade date in that ordering system. So hope that explains that

So I called back again to a different rep who did verify this information is correct, but said they might be able to do early upgrade orders long as your account is flagged for the upgrade prior to phone being released. Just will not be eligible for the bill credit or any other discounts. I can get phone soon as they release it at 2 year pricing 7 months early due to their open offer to me.

Anyways I just didn't realize they have implimented such strict systems when iphone was released and play for all high end phones to go through same process so people don't abuse giving out upgrades early. Makes sense in the long run to protect the bottom dollar of phone sales though.

So only people who can get the phone upon release are those who are getting a new line, those who are eligible for 2-yr contract upgrade (NE2) or those who are paying full retail price, right? And no corporate discounts.

Correct from what they said when ordering over the phone yes, but they will honor all employee or corporate discounts. Don't still work for Verizon so I have no idea if they get deals on phones or just billing discounts.

So yep we are on same page I think. Like I said I have been mislead before but at you can tell after waiting 3 weeks to be told sorry we can't honor your early upgrade if the phone is placed in our iphone ordering system has me up in arms.

1. New Customer / New Line
2. Eligible for Upgrade on 1 / 2 year contract
3. Pay full retail price

Well, I am getting mine from Best Buy this time. But it is good to be aware of these policy changes.

so our local HTC rep came in today with a Thunderbolt...he did not have a SIM card yet, but I was able to try out the skins and just mess around on the phone.

i've had the Droid, Incredible, X, Pro, and Fascinate...and I think the Thunderbolt was just okay. Sure, it was fast...but the shock value is just okay. I was actually a little disappointed.

He said, still, there is no launch day.

And now to take this thread back to the positive side again

I captured this for the masses, in case everyone didn't get to see it yet,
yes theres a crappy version on YouTube, big whoop, wanna fight about it? LOL

Mine is in 720p HD, you can see the disclaimers and have better audio to understand what there saying.

I think its not that much off topic since its ThunderBolt related and there is NO mention of a street date or "coming soon" at the end

Just to clarify, if we wish to get locked into the 4G unlimited plan, does that mean, after initially getting into a 1/2 year contract with the T-Bolt, that we want avoid renewing the contract by purchasing full retail from now on? Or can we still begin new contracts with subsidized phones and keep a previous data plan?

On a similar note, is it possible to switch between a 1- and 2-year contract within the first month of a new contract?

Well if this is airing then I have to say it's almost false advertisement since the commercial entices people to think it's available now. They need to edit and put a date or coming soon! Wow

if you change the phone, either through contract, full retail, or purchased from ebay...once you change the ESN, it will want to change the data plan

and yes, you can adjust to a different contract tier within the return time period, which is 14 days

all of the HTC commercials out now make it seem like it is already out.... meh. I'm through with commercials for the phone lol

This also applies when you change your phone from one of your lines to another line.

I'll be using my second line to get it with my upgrade, then when i get it, I'll activate it as my main line phone. When you do that you change your plan settings each time, meaning, if i were to do that after they changed the Unlimited plans to Tiered, I would be screwed.

Just wanted to point that out there

I went on Vzw.com and I can do an early upgrade on any phone but the Iphone....This might just be due to the contract that was signed with Apple, or they were trying to cut down on the number of people buying the Iphone with early upgrades and wanted to save the phones for New Customers or the 2 Year Renewals. I'm leaning towards new Customers.

anywho, I'm going to be very upset with Verizon if this turns out to be a better device than the ThunderBolt (besides the rumored 3D screen that is)

Sprint announcing Nexus S 4G, EVO 3D, and EVO View tablet at CTIA? -- Engadget

I already had my eyes on the HTC Flyer tablet, (same size as the galaxy tab)
but it seems to me that Sprint is using the EVO name the same way Verizon is the Droid name

At least the EVO 3D wont come out till late this year. Where as with the incredible and EVO, it was the same time frame of release. Very much competing with each other

If its 3D than its going to have the Dual Core Snapdragon since it supports 3D

@brandonx1000, @NCX

So there's no way to keep the unlimited 4G forever? In that case I'll just one-year the phone like I was already planning since multi-core stuff will be out in mass next spring along with 2.4+.
