There's a storm brewing...

When people quote you, your name just happens to appear right above the end of the phrase "Where is the best place to get..."

It makes it look like you are lurking AC forums to get some meth :P

That's gross.

LMAO!

Just woke up from my nap, read this forum and 17th "seems" like a go. I hope this is true but I'm not holding my breath.

How much time could it possibly take to Facebook or tweet a release date? That is ridiculous. Would answer a lot of questions and get a lot of people off of their back.

They aren't tweeting or announcing a release date on FB since they seem to be playing this one a week at a time.

By announcing a release date on Twitter or FB, they would be "locked in"... but by not saying anything, it gives them the flexibility to push things back and work bugs out - which is what we have been seeing unfold since Feb 14... and again on the 24th and the 28th... and again on March 10th. They aren't playing games for the sole purpose of torturing you. There's a legitimate reason behind all this.

That being said, you as the consumer have the option of #winning!! by NOT to buy their product if they piss you off enough. But if you wanna buy their gear, you play by their rules and timelines.

Frustrating? Yes. But I can totally understand why they are doing it this way

I know there has been some talk recently about 2 different ordering systems.

1. Will let you use early upgrade's
2. The other will only let you use 20 month or more upgrades

So which system is the Thunderbolt going on? Or is the special ordering system just for Apple products?

Hey Bennnnn,

I have a question that I wish you would answer for me. First, thank you for taking the time to share all the information that you have and for coming up with the fun riddles. Maybe you could ask your director this question or maybe you could answer it based on your knowledge of the inner workings of corporate Verizon.

Here's my question: What's so hard about making an announcement?

If the 17th is indeed going to be the launch date, how hard is it to put together a press release or a facebook status update or a tweet?

Seems to me that it would be almost no effort at all. Maybe one tenth of one man hour of work to tell a secretary to get out the form email for launch announcements and insert the words "Thunderbolt" and "March 17."

Or is the 17th not certain? Does Steve Jobs want the announcement held until after the ipud2 has had a week or two in the spotlight? or the iphail5?

I actually spoke to a manager at a corporate Verizon store recently about this. According to him (in fact, he actually showed this to me) managers USED to have just one purchasing portal wherein they could allow for some "fudging" when it came to giving you a phone a little early or for a little cheaper, etc...

However, when the iPhone4 on Verizon was launched, they created a second portal for "iconic devices" and that portal does not allow managers in the store to make any modifications whatsoever (so forget about getting the phone a little early if your upgrade isn't quite ready)

As of right now the only phone listed in this portal is the iPhone, but he and I both agreed that the first 4G phone would likely count as an "iconic device" and will likely (using logic and deductive reasoning) find its way to the iconic portal

I don't think iPad2 sales is going affect TBolt or vice versa. It is tablet v phone not phone v phone.

As for the dates, as much frustrated as we are with VZW, I think March 17 is their target date. And they are still working out some problems. Battery has reportedly been a big problem but Bennnnn says the battery problem has been solved. They must be working on something else.

That does not make sense does it? If you want more people to buy an iconic phone, you should allow them to upgrade early, just like they did with AT&T with iPhone4 release.

Or does this mean, ONCE you get this iconic phone, you can't upgrade early and get another phone?

Which one is it?

Will the phone be available online from Verizon on the 17th as well?
I can't seen Verizon not getting the phone on launch date. BB may have an exclusive deal that they can sell the TB along with VZW. Only way BB will be able to sell the TB before VZW if their truck shipment get hijacked.
