Well, we are going on a cruise to alaska in june and i want a way better phone than my lg envy touch... i want to take better pics and videos and post them up for my friends and family to see, whats wrong with that?

nothing wrong with it. i laughed a little too, mostly because everyone on here is up in arms begging for scraps of info for this phone to at least come out by the 17th, then you come along and say you want it at least by june, which would be apocalyptic for most of us here. honestly though, if you're goin to alaska (and especially if you plan on travelling more in the future) get a good nikon or cannon camera. there is little i enjoy more than the memories i have preserved in beautiful pictures from my old pentax 35mm..
Agreed. Last year I spent 3 months in Peru, 1 month in Columbia, and 3 months in Brazil and I severely regret not getting a good camera. I had a Panasonic Lumix, which is pretty good for a point and shoot, but I wish I bought an SLR. If I were you, I would get one of the Olypmus Pen's or Sony Nex's, because I really like the smaller size and ease of use compared to some SLR's.

So to recap 8 hours worth of stuff.......
1. HTCThunderbolt thanked a lot of people pages and pages. (I didn't get one. Lol)
2. The "Bennnnn" is telling what can. He has some info he can't release yet, so not to excite the masses
3. No announcement til after iPad 2 launches
4. I missed the whole phone call Verizon thread..
Now after sitting back and reading all this, BMX and Bennnnn seem to jive together.
Belief: I do believe the problems have been battery, but that has been solved. 4G/3G handoff for voice/data has been the BIG problem. Think about it, Verizon already has 4G modems out and they work and function.
Anyways that sums up 30 some pages of catch up.
P.s. Chrisy is on the road and needs someone to let her know to read the forum. Lol

A user allegedly got a call from Verizon declaring the 17th as the official release date of the phone. But, as is too often, the thread turned into a flame war and personal information was released. So it was dissolved into a million glittery pieces.
I thought the Thunderbolt didn't do voice calls on 4G? Once there are true digital calls on 4G, that will be a huge increase in call quality. Am I wrong about that?
It doesn't. The issue was that when you would leave a 4g data area it would hunt and hunt for 3g. If you go to the USB 4g product pages on Verizon site... you will see a ton of customer feedback on that.

Those types of problems I am aware of; I was responding to Guntherm's theory about voice call hand-off problems.
You are correct. No voice over 4G. But what I was trying to convey was the handoff issue between 4G and 3G. I mistyped the handoff of voice. I took it back out.

BMX also said directly the cause of delays was a ripple effect due to VZW pulling LTE engineers off their jobs to work on beefing up 3G CDMA for the iPhone.
Hmmm...so, is the above exchange an indication that, if not for the release of the iPad2, we likely would have seen the TB released this week? The iPad2 is the reason for the immediate delay? That's how I take it, anyway...
I don't believe so. I think they are still working to get the TB ready according to Bennnnn and BMX
If that's the case, then he must have been saying that the release announcement would have been this week, but has been delayed due to the iPad2 launch.
That's how I took it. At least at this point. In other words, before these little things popped up that needed fixing, it was scheduled to drop this week, but now that it's not, they are waiting until after the iPad2 launch. I wish they would just give us pre-orderers the option of picking the phone up now. Sheesh!
