There's a storm brewing...

So new member, long time lurker. Been keeping up to date on this novel and the Thunderbolt will be my first android device, pretty excited, but now getting really frustrated. I'm hearing the 21st thrown around a lot and with that annoncement by BGR, it is pretty much solid now. That's what that guy has done for years and why he has all the street creds he does. I know he botched the 24th, but I think that was really verizon and not him. Is anyone else feeling like the 17th is now a no go? I know it's only 4 extra days, but jeez uss... thamadness! Hey Bennnnn, did you get any new updates as far as the 17th goes today? Thanks for letting me join in on the fun!

BGR has been on the forefront of every single rumored date, so their track record isn't fantastic. Ben5 has told us that the 17th is still on track, but that anything can happen.

But probably the 17th.

But anything can happen.

But probably.

Can we settle on an abbreviation of Bennnnn already?

not being rude and I know I'm a newbie, but for a flagship phone, they would and will have the ads running

I'm not being rude either but I am just giving another alternative as to why it's not in the ad since everyone finds a reason to give up (which is understandable). So looking for some reason to be positive here. Best Buy has a lot of "flagship" stuff (in their eyes) that comes out.

Rude is bad (you weren't) Newbie is irrelevant unless you posting nonsense (You're not). :)

I agree that we won't see the phone before we see more ads. To not put the ads back up first would be stupid.

The BestBuy ads are made months in advance, for them to change something this far into March wouldn't probably take effect until an ad coming out in May.

Its why they do ad-corrections instead of re-prints, its cheaper and the only possible way since it would take time to have it printed up and setup.

but here's the gist, the ads for Tbolt ran for almost a month, which started from the Feb 6 ad, to last weeks ad.

It makes sense to only advertise a new product for so long to give up marketing space on the ad to other products, then maybe when its on sale advertise it again.

I'm still looking at the 17th for the date

the 21st was started by the fake facebook page, then the rumor trolls thought they would use that and call themselves "legitimate sources" as far as i can tell, they also posted the 24th date, and later deleted both dates making people believe it was real since they deleted it.

and lets not forget about the articles on the blogs talking about how even Verizon employees are joining in the on the rumor trolls and leaking fake release dates to cause more ruckus.

Only sources i will believe are BMX and Ben5

Ok. I'm using an iPad to post this. Makes me consider an iPhone! What's the latest on this release date.

I might have misread his post. I thought he was talking about the TV ads...

Yea, I am getting nervous too about the 17th....oh well. We can only hope. At this point I think I am more comfortable with the date of the 17th based on the different sources we have heard...than the 21st. Who knows?

So a related/non related question about the thunderbolt:
I know that with tethering you can root and use wireless tethering without paying for the $20 tethering plan. Hypotheticaly on 4g, do you think they will be able to track it easier? I know I read on 3g they could, but didn't...
(Sorry if that doesn't make sense?) Not that I would do that, just making conversation while we wait for Ben^5

You know I really hate to say it but I would consider an iPhone but I hate the fact that I can't expand the memory or change the battery if I need to. Also when I went to my Verizon store the associate told me that if something goes wrong I have to send the phone into Apple to get it resolved. Plus I don't have an Apple store around here so I would do without a phone for a while if something goes wrong.

It is so much better than my blackberry.

As a blackberry Storm owner, I can tell you that my daughter's leap-pad can sometimes be better than a blackberry.

iFruit has its moments -- but only android has desserts.... :)
