Things Improved/Changed with GB

Noticed couple of things different with camera. You can now adjust exposure settings and there is now an icon to switch from front facing to regular camera. The coolest feature to me is in applications. On the SD card tab it now showed which apps are on the SD card and also which ones can be, but haven't been moved yet. You can move them right there, no more searching for eligible apps, great for saving space.

If I do a factory reset:

Do I get all my apps from the Market back automatically or do I have to redownload manually? I know it remembers what I have, but I'm wondering if I still have to manually download each or if it just pushes them all at once.

Do I get all my apps back from Amazon automatically or do I have to redownload manually? Same as above. I know it remembers but don't know if it's automatic.

If I got an app when it was Amazon's free app of the day, will I get it back for free or will Amazon try to charge me for it this time since it's no longer the free app of the day?

If I reinstall an app that had local data, do I get the local data back? Take AK Notepad for example. I have a bunch of notes. Do I get my notes back?

(My contacts are fine because they are all now "google" contacts instead of "phone" contacts)

Ok I just went ahead and did it. Firstly it fixed the clock problem. Secondly, here are the answers to the questions above .

I got back all my Android market apps automatically. No manual download one by one.

It also remembered my wallpaper but not my folder structure or what I had on each page in terms of apps or widgets.

I did not get back my amazon apps because the setting that says no apps from unknown sources gets rechecked when you factory reset . But once you uncheck that and redownload the app store app, all of your amazon apps including the paid ones you got on free days are all there ready to be downloaded.

I lost all of my local data in apps that do not synchronize to the web. So for example I lost all of my notes from a k notepad. I lost all of my entries on my gas mileage apps. Before I did the factory reset I had backed all of my apps up with Astro but it did not preserve the local data.

Another minor annoyance is that the My Verizon Mobile app, which I never even launched, has been reporting an error and force closing over and over ever since I did the factory reset. It just keeps trying. When I go to its app settings page, it won't allow me to force stop it. It gives me an active button, but pushing it doesn't seem to do anything.

I also had this problem but before I got gb. It had nothing to do with gb but rather the new update for the my verizon app itself. I did a couple restarts and removed/put new shortcut and it eventually went away itself

You should with gingerbread came the backing up of our app list .I would make a list of your free apps just invade some get missed but the majority will be there.

These will have to be redownloaded one at a time but they are all in one list and so it's just click wait click. Free app of the day apps still free to redownload.

Do I get my notes back?move them to the SD card before reset or connect to the computer and copy off the folder with them in it and write down the path so you can put it back when you are done

Is it just me or does anyone else's speaker seem louder. Before I could barely hear anyone if I was trying to use the speaker phone option and now I have had to turn it down.

Speakerphone seems louder but using earpiece/headset seems quieter (especially when listening to music). I am using new hardware for the Gingerbread update though so I don't know if it is hardware or software. Can anyone confirm?

I had the same issue. I ended up removing an update the market had installed for the app and the errors stopped.

Other finds:
- Fastboot option is moved
- You can now hide text message from displaying on lock screen under privacy settings (awesome!! no more handcent for me)
- Voicemail storage has a bug..seems to only stick to phone storage even when sd card is selected
- Vibrate seems different (more audible but less actual vibrate - I am using different hardware so don't know if this is hardware or software - can anyone confirm?)

Market App stopped working last night. Press it and screen would just flash. This was shortly after I had downloaded a few apps. Tried to remove them via application manager but that wasn't working either. Tried restart, nope. Tried a battery pull, still nope. Had to do a Factory Reset. Now things are working again.

Honestly not sure if this was a GB issue or not but still...

Before I could click on the clock widget and be able to access my alarm clock, stopwatch, timer, etc... Now it doesn't work so I cannot set any alarms... Is it gone or how do you get to it now???

Same problem here. Have posted on several other forums looking for solution. Here are some more details:

Clock/Weather widget no longer links to the Clock app when tapping the Clock in the widget.

Go to Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > All and scroll down to the "Clock" app. On my DINC2 w/GB, the Clock app is grayed out whereas the other apps are all listed in bright bold white. I checked the entire list and ONLY "Clock" and "CityID" are grayed out like this.

This is what my DINC2 reports for the Clock app:
version 1.00.000.081006.605
Storage 0.00B (for all three Total, Application, Data)
Cache 0.00B
Launch by default- no defaults set

Another user on another forum whose clock app still functions reports that his cache is also zero, but his storage is different for all three, total being 596KB (app 420KB, Data 176KB).

It looks like the clock app has disappeared or ben overwritten for some of us for some odd reason.

Do a factory reset. this will get your clock widget working.

Seconding this. I did it and it fixed the clock widget problem. Several other people have done it too and it fixes it. Minor hassle to get your phone set back up after that but I think it's worth it. Just be sure to copy or move or back up any data that certain apps store locally (like notes in a note app that doesn't sync to the cloud) because you'll lose that and it won't be restored.

It's always better to factory reset your phone after firmware updates anyway. Gives it that new phone feeling and allows you to filter out the programs you may or may not use anymore as well.

Looks like the factory reset fixed my problems... Now I get that annoying Verizon Mobile force closing now and then... My calendar isn't updating from my facebook anymore though, doesn't even give me an option to use it... Not sure how to fix that but everything else seems better now...

I bit the bullet and did a hard reset. Ugh. Still rebuilding but the clock app is working again.
