Things You Don't Like About The 6P?

The reason the phones you mentioned are selling well "not outselling their rivals" is one the 6S+ has better battery performance and OIS, the Note is a completely different phone meant for people that need the use of a stylus, the majority of people that I see on the street and that I pick up "I am a black car dispatch FHV driver" use 5" phones, maybe in your small universe everyone uses a 6"-7" smartphone. If the 6P sold the same phone at 5.2" it would outsell the 6" variant, and no the 5X this year by LG is a complete joke. Also please don't mention any Sony phones, they are irrelevant in today's smartphone market, like WP's. And BB's demise was not do to screen size, where are you getting your information from.

In my non-scientific experience, it seems like more people have the smaller versions of phones. iPhone 6, Galaxy S6, etc. The only reason the bigger phones MAY sell a little better is because these companies give them better specs and features than the smaller versions. Like OIS and battery life on the 6s Plus. Or more RAM and better battery life on the Note 5 (not to mention features you can't get on the S6). The 6P is also much more premium than the 5X - feel, camera has some additional features, battery life, storage. These phone companies pushed us to the bigger phones. A lot of people who have them would go to smaller phones if they were as premium as their larger counterparts.

That's what I said.

I can say the same thing about 'your small universe' you want a small phone so you 'only see' small phones. The numbers back up the demand for larger phones. Most people now use their phones for media consumption, and the difference between a 5" device and 6" for that propose is immense. If the majority, as you claim, wanted a smaller more premium device, why has no one filled that demand, if it is as you say the majority?

It's not about the demand you are talking about, it's about the phone manufacturers trying to push out larger phones do to "more advertisements" that will fit on your screen "that's where their revenue comes from" especially Google, it has NOTHING do do with media consumption. Eight out of ten people on the street use 5"-5.2" phones.

Will wait for the 5P later this year "if that's what they will call it" with the SD820 "the 5X was a joke this year", hopefully with wireless charging and OIS, unitl then my N6 will do just fine.

yeah the 5x was a pretty big disappointment IMO ... I wouldn't mind seeing Huawei make both devices in 2016. Them or BlackBerry would be pretty sweet.

Newsflash, more people want 5" phones than 6" phones, a 5.2" Nexus would be just right with the specs of the 6P and the SD820 with wireless charging and OIS, which we will hopefully see later this year.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for wireless charging or OIS on a 5.2" device. Hopefully I'm wrong, but that's my hunch. They do need to step up their smaller version though, should they choose to go that route again. Hopefully force touch will make it to the Fall lineup. Ton of potential there and Google has been hard at work on it via their iOS apps with that technology.

The problem, as others have said, is that they aren't offering highend, small form factor devices to everyone. Sure, Sony's Z compact series is there, but availability is limited. It's not available on Verizon, which eliminates roughly 50% of the market.

My previous device was a Droid Turbo, which had a 5.2" screen. I can say without a doubt that if the 5" Nexus would've been a 6p with a smaller screen, I'd be much happier with it. But they didn't, and look what we did get for the smaller Nexus, smaller storage options, no dual speakers, and reviews that say performance is lacking compared to the 6p. These companies are tying performance and user experience directly to larger devices. Could they get the same thing in a smaller device? Sure, but it wouldn't be as impressive as a device with a larger screen. Sure everyone wants a larger screen, but at some point usability becomes an issue. At what point is a phone too big?

Saying that most of the people you see have the 6s Plus or Note series isn't a fair demographic of the entire industry. Hell where I live, smartphones are the minority, but I don't take that to mean no one uses smartphones, just that it only applies to my area. And both those devices have better performance over their smaller models. The Note has better battery life than the S6, as does the 6s Plus over the 6s. Most years the Galaxy S series phones have inferior specs simply due to them coming out earlier in the year, the Note always ended up with a better processor mostly due to when it launched. If you only offer midrange specs in smaller devices and highend specs in larger devices, that will push people to larger devices that may not have gone that route had there been the option of a smaller device with highend specs.

I understand what your saying, but if the demand was there for a 5-5.2" device with say 4K screen, 4GB ram, 3500mah batt, etc why hasn't it been built yet? A few people in here are clamoring for a 6P in a 5X body, the keyword being few. It seems like people have moved on to bigger screens, and expect them to be high end. From sales numbers it just looks like people want bigger phones or maybe something in the range of 5.5"+

Usability at the current size (5.7") is still quite easy. Although at times this is def a two hander device. From what I have noticed a lot more people are streaming videos etc and that is always going to look better on a larger screen. At some point though big will be too big. Maybe 7" or 8"... Then it's kind of tablet territory.

Let's keep the discussion on topic and not bash people for not liking certain aspects of the phone. The point of the thread is for people to discuss what they like or don't like and get help to fix it (if possible).

If you want to discuss another topic (such as discsusing what the majority want in a screen size) please create the appropriate topic.

Thanks.

It would have been nice to have a front fps. Also, it would have been nice if it was sold by carriers.

Wishing it had the option for double tap to wake. Sometimes pick it up and its not consistent with waking up. Usually works but the other thing is it times out to quick before I swipe up. I use it a lot while sitting at a table or desk with phone laying flat. Double tap would be sweet. Still getting used to it, just annoying to have to pick it up to see messages.

OK, so after having this phone for a while now, what do you not like about it?
(Compared to other phones you've had)

I love everything except for the sound quality of this phone. The volume bug is a mess, and sound like crap. Not to mention the very distorted sound of the stereo speakers when on a higher volume setting.

There's ROMs for that. The ROM I'm running has double tap as an option, Pay works, weather on the lock screen, different battery icons, and its extremely stable. Battery life is excellent. Root it and get the most out of your device! :D
