Things you've discovered on Note 8?

yay! managed to restore my ability to block calls from the recents list, sort of. still have to click details, blah, blah, blah, but at least my work yesterday didn't go unrewarded.

Using the rear fps when making a Samsung Pay purchase was quite cumbersome.

I found out that you don't have to hold it at the strip reader like on the other devices. I used it yesterday a coupld times, and as soon as I put my finger print to authenticate, the reader switched to "Processing" and then "Approved"

I literally just discovered with my coworker, that the OnCircle options live on! It's not as evident as it was in the older versions of People Edge, but it's kind of there.

My supervisor has the S8, and I have the Note8 (of course) and he mentioned that he was able to rejecet a call with a "Blob" picture and it said "I can't talk right now" captioned under the image.

I opened up his contact in my Edge Panel, selected the "Call" option, and it asked me to pick an avatar/sticker. It said "Start with a sticker" and had a few animated options!

Also, my contact info can be updated with an animated avatar/picture.

Need to find out how to assign colors for calls in edge lighting now.

While on a call with my headphone, the screen times out and goes black. No matter how I tapped the screen or pressed on the virtual home button I couldn't get the screen to wake up. :-\

To wake up the screen I discovered that:
  • Touching the fingerprint sensor will wake up the screen.
  • Clicking the home button will wake the screen.

Just switched the position of my Back and Recents virtual buttons and loving it so far. When I use my phone one handed I usually end up using my left hand which is strange because I'm right handed. Now I don't have to change my grip on the phone to use the Back button which I use much more than the Recents button.

The battery life is better than people have indicated. Just woke up and realized that I didn't put my phone on the charger You the night. From yesterday at 7am to almost 4am this morning I'm at 35% and I made phone calls, text messages, emails, watched YouTube videos, played Real Racing 3, took pictures and videos, and surfed the web. I also have my Note 8 set to maximum performance. I am very happy with the battery life. I don't care that the battery is 3300 mah. It seems to work well for me.

"Most complainers complain for the sake of complaining!" I have been running a Galaxy S7 Active with a 4000mah battery since Samsung took away our Note 7s and if anyone should complain, it would be me. I am perfectly content with my new Note 8's battery performance - it doesn't have a 4000mah battery so I don't expect it would act like it. I'm good with it, the way it is!

anyone know how to get rid of the annoying blue circle you get on your phone when mirroring (smart view) to your tv? thanks.

I was goofing around in my texts and had keyboard up and was texting friend. I long pressed word with my finger and it magnified the word for me. And I did it again and I was able to move the word to another part of text. Definitely new to me. Never noticed this on note 5. Course I always use magnifier with spen

That's a really good tip. I just tried it. I'm not sure when I would use it, but it's nice to know that the feature exists.

Thanks. And to be honest lol I don't know when I would use it either cause I usually just use magnifier just use it cause it there. Lol. I love finding stuff I didn't know was there haha.

Here's a caveat about enabling developer options (by clicking your build number a million times). It has a strange effect on the apps screen. It no longer shows the options balloon when you press on an app which allows you to do things like remove the app, remove a group, move to home screen and other things. I was scratching my head trying to figure out what had happened. I thought it was the new theme that I applied that might have caused it .... nope. I thought it was some things that I had disabled on the BK 2 Disabler that may have caused it .... nope. By shear luck I clicked on my Developer Options in settings and noticed a toggle switch on the top right. It was turned on. I then switched it OFF. Lo and behold I got those app bubble options back by doing that. Just an FYI.

I've never seen developers options do that. I have it enabled now and I can't reproduce your findings.

That's pretty strange... I'm with AT&T and I enabled Developer Mode and didn't lose that function. I read what you said was switched on so I checked "Developer Mode" and there is no such line in mine???
