Thinking of buying the pixel

I want to use allo but people are saying it's just like hangout but I been reading you can send sms through it

You can use allo just like an sms app. I only use it for Google Assistant because i don't use the voice recognition for assistant and i don't know anyone else who uses allo. As far as i know it doesn't function with other sms apps, only other allo users.

Thank you but That still confuses me lol can I use the app for basic texting other numbers and other phones like a Norma texting app?

As far as I'm aware, you can only text other allo users through the allo app. Maybe that's what makes it like WhatsApp? I don't use WhatsApp so I'm not sure.

Google Assistant is used primarily by voice like Siri is, but it is also integrated into allo so you can text it instead of talking to your phone. That is how i use Google Assistant because I've been too lazy to set up the voice part.

I'm the same way. Always had a iPhone.i use to switch between iPhone and nexus. But the pixel deff does seem nothing like the nexus devices, I was ant to see what apple has plans for iOS 11 and iPhone 8. But I couldn't resist getting the pixel and trying that has my daily driver. How's the 5" screen? Compared to iPhone 7 screen 4"7? Is it still easy to see in one hand ?

As for the screen on the Pixel, I much prefer it over the iPhone. I have small hands and typing on the Pixel is no problem. I use Gboard and as mentioned, it took me a little getting used to. After a little time I can type pretty quickly with it. It does the job.

One of the things I like about the Pixel is that I can get the font and icons more visibly appealing than on my iPhone 7. I think the font on the iPhone actually goes larger than the Pixel but the screen settings seem to make it easier on my 50+ eyes... Hard to explain it correctly.

I also greatly prefer the notifications on the Pixel.

Keep us posted when you get yours.

Do it. Still one of the best, if not the best device on the market. Definitely the most secure device available; obviously the only Android OEM committed to updates, among the best on camera - the only flagship devices I can recommend in good conscious today are the iPhone 7+ and Pixel or Pixel XL. However, if you can afford to wait a few months (October) I'd hold out to see the new iPhone and new Pixel lineups.

Thank you very much for the very specific details I really appreciate it. I do plan on keeping my iPhone 7 with the pixel . If I ever get a Android its always Google phones because I want immediate software updates

battery, screen and the camera are amazing. i love the fact that pixel gives you unlimited original photo backup. Its a pain to use apples solution for storage and they only give 5gb.
I disabled photos on my ipad and use google photos exclusively.
pixel is really smooth, even better than nexus devices.

Thank you everyone! I just hot it. It's crazy how smooth it is doing one operation to another! Everything just smoothly switches between each other. Also the 5'0 screen is amazing not big but big enough to be able to use on one hand yet clearly show everything in apps

unfortunately they only had 32GB so I hope that doesn't hurt me.

I have a 32 Pixel. I would say as long as you set up Google Photos right away, you should be fine for storage. Most often the biggest consuming thing about cell phones is photos and video. With those getting backed up to Photos, you can clear the local device storage and keep the internal level low. Photos has a button in the app settings menu to clear up local storage.
