Thinking of switching from iPhone 11 Pro. Help needed

Androids generally get good battery life if optimized. You'll need to play with it. If it's running warm something is not set up right.

That very much depends on the Android phone. The 4xl definitely isn't going to be near the top of any battery life lists. If you're not a heavy user, you can probably make it through the day. Most days I can't come close.

The only one I can comment on with certainty is the AT&T Note 10+ variant. That took some real effort to optimize.
Worth it; runs fast and cool. I top it off to 70-80% about 2 or 3 times a day. I'm on it most of the day.
All black screen wallpaper helps a lot with OLEDs as does turning off the useless animations.
Keep screen brightness to 50% or less unless you really need it. Google AR is a buggy power hungry hog on this, disabled.
A lot of little steps give you big power savings and longer battery lifetime.

Right, the 10+ has a much better battery than the pixel. I was speaking specifically about the 4xl which the op was asking about. The 4xl battery life is just average compared to other Android phones and probably a good bit worse than the 11 pro. The regular 4's battery is supposedly terrible so i wouldn't even consider it.

The pixel 4xl is getting almost same battery life as the other Android phones with 90hz or 120hz panel .

Yeah 2800mAh. Max 128 gb internal memory and no SD card slot; I wouldn't get that myself.
I'm up to 281gbs used right now.
Having half a tb internal memory is righteous. At last.
Best thing unlike Apple is it isn't that expensive.
You can never have too much memory...

Great thing about Androids is there are many manufacturers and variants to choose from... tough part is deciding which one and avoiding undesirable surprises.

This is a pretty good idea of what to expect buying the pixel 4 today. I might wait for the 5 personally as that snapdragon 7xx they're supposedly using will probably yield great battery life. It's a bit of a wait though.

I'm personally hoping Google releases a watch to compete with the apple watch this year, but I know it probably won't happen.

Yeah like to see a watch from them also

Update:
So finally ended up doing it. Got an amazing deal for a new Pixel 4 XL for about CAD600. Its been good so far. Initial transfer of data from iPhone to Pixel was quite smooth except for WhatsApp After a lot of struggle got all my WhatsApp messages transferred as well.

Spent a few hours on finding the right email app for my taste/needs. Looks like I found one that I liked during BlackBerry days. Yes. The BB Hub is quite nice for all my communication needs. Let's see how it goes

Battery is what I'm worried about. The last couple of days isn't really a good measure as I was constantly on it setting it up. Hopefully it will last a day.

Surprisingly, I don't find the XL too big. Maybe it's because of the narrow width.

Congrats, wait about week , setting up and learning your patterns will get better

Congratulations on your new phone! If you have no use for the Soli features, then turn it off. I've heard that Soli is a fairly prominent battery hog.

Also to help battery life it's probably best to not force 90hz refresh rate in developer options.

As an owner of a BB Priv, I can tell you that if that phone is not warm, it's probably because it's not being used...thanks to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 808.

Yep, depends on the phone, the Android version that's on it and how the manufacturer optimized said version of Android for that piece of hardware.
The Pixel with its 3700mAh should be getting very respectable results.

Have you tried turning it off to see how much more life you can squeeze out?
I'd also keep the phone in power saving mode all the time.

Ever since the Android 9 update we don't have to deal with that horrendous looking red status bar.
