Thinking of Switching to Sprint for EVO 3D

I will agree with kinster. You never want to switch carriers to another provider based soley on a new device. That will lead to problems. What if that carrier has poor recrption where you need it the most? But its ok that you got yourself that new device though.

Man, it all depends in reality, if you really want the phone go for it, but at the end, its you're decision and you'll learn yourself later on if it was a bad choice or not.

I am looking at switching carriers (TMO) to Sprint when this phone comes out But I will prob keep both lines for at least 30 days. Where I work I get crap reception on my Vibrant but the place is full of Sprint Repeaters beyound that I will prob have to do some driving to make sure my most common routes are covered, The lack of coverage was a reason why I left sprint and went to tmo 5 years ago.

Don't know were you live, but at least in my experience Sprint has improved a lot from 5 years ago, but don't know if that would be the case in your area. With that said, I think is a good idea that you'll keep both for the 30 days.

My Brother has Sprint and it works well enough for him so I am think i may not have issues but since I am not on a contract with TMO I can cut them off anytime.

I would check on 3g/4g speeds where you're at. My friend has an epic 4g from sprint and his speeds are bad compared to my vibrant 3g. He averages at 2.5mbps on 4G and I average at 3+mbps on 3g on t-mobile.

And when ATT takes over all of our wonderful phones go to hell in a hand basket we will not have 3G. So I am planning on dumping TMO and going sprint or verizon.

I really don't think 2.5 is bad unless you're doing some heavy tethering. Most have 4g off anyway. Voice signal and good 3g IMO is more important.

Of course I will upgrade to the EVO 3D. I get great reception and I live in small arse Stockton, Ca. 4g kicks butt here too. But the new EVO 3g had me drooling when I saw whats under its slim sleek lil hood.

Another point to switching carriers, it is apparent that being with a carrier for a long time (Sprint for more than 10 years) you do end up with some perks/rewards so for me I would have to be blown away by another phone/plan to even consider switching

I live in Stockton too! Loving the reception and 4G that I've been able to receive everywhere I've tried around town. Also considering upgrading to the EVO 3D from my current Epic 4G but I'm debating whether or not starting all over for another 2 year contract is worth it (started at Sprint with the Epic 4G Sept. 2010).

t-mobile throttled down my data speed to 100kbs after 5g and that makes the internet conetion un-usable. Sprint claims to offer unlimited data with no cap and no throttle down of connection speed. IS THIS TRUE. The t-mobile salesperson said the throttle down would be barely noticeable but at just over dial-up speed it is totally useless.

From their Lititure and store personel the Unlimited data is on 4G only and there is a 5GB on the 3G. but I am not a customer yet so i can not tell you if that is true.

I use my phone a TON and still barely hit near 2GB. If you're hitting 5 I don't know what you could be doing.

thats for tethering or data card plans.

phone data use is unlimited.

Sprint is true unlimited. I cant seem to find the thread right now, but one member on AC posted about his using 48gigs in one month and experienced no throttling and he never got anything from sprint.

I use about .5-2gigs a month and NO problems. Sprint is awesome when it comes to that.

Once you have the EVO size, you won't ever want a little phone again. Try it for one day.

Now with higher def and a lot more speed, the EVO 3D will rock.

As to people coming to the original EVO in droves...Best Buy and the Sprint stores had waiting lists for months after the EVO was launched. Their allotments of a couple dozen a week at each store were just not enough.

Do that math and that is a lot of EVO's.
