This Camera is the bomb

I'm going to have to try it again....I didn't find it as bad as the 2XL

I believe it is a different issue from the 2. The microphone recording leads to a very "tinny" sound. A few reviewers have done a good job demonstrating this, including Supersaf. As I posted earlier in this thread, google has claimed this is intentional. Much better audio from iPhone (which I have no interest in going back to) and Note 9.

For still camera photos Pixel 3 is still better than the competition.
For video I think the iPhone does a better job. Google needs to work out the audio kinks in video mode.
My understanding is Google seems to think it's not a problem, but rather a feature.

Someone had posted that it still had hissing in the background....that I haven't experienced.

That may be, but again the concern I've seen most discussed is the horrible sound recording by the microphone. For me, this will likely take the Pixel 3 out of the running for me when deciding on my next phone, which is a shame, because I really want that camera!!!

The video seems pretty good but let down by the poor audio recording. Hopefully Google can fix this but maybe they want users to spend more money on external mics.

Audio and video has never been up to my liking on the Pixels. The camera is superb at least. And yeah, that audio difference from the iPhone to Pixel is shocking.

There's a time and a place for Dedicated cameras....it's hard though with the quality results we are seeing.... Can't wait to see what the future brings.

Agree 100%. One can only imagine...for now.

On my Pixel 2 I recently recorded my kid cheering for a football game, you can barely here the cheer. Recorded her gymnastics routine, you can barely make out the music in the video and its very loud in the gym. One of my gripes with this phone. Yes I want good pictures but I need good video and audio too.

I was never super thrilled with the camera but the Video is decent and the Audio on the LG V series is phenomenal. Their updates are on the sucky side though and snapshots are still not as good even with 5 cameras.

Yeah I'm not impressed by the overall performance of the cameras (some shots are really bad) I'm seeing different comparisons with the V40 and it's lacking in several other areas to.

Night Vision (at least on my Pixel 2 XL) accomplishes shots no other phone camera can even dream of in low light - and while DSLR can do the same, they require a tripod and a much longer time to complete. To me that is the most amazing aspect of this (and I have to imagine it will be better on the 3, perhaps even more so when it is actually finished development and released).

My Fuji mirrorless, and its lenses, has been in a cabinet since my first Pixel. When I got my Pixel 2 it was done. I do have an advantage in that I started enjoying taking photos .back when there were no zoom lenses, I couldn't afford much, and Tri-X was the low-light king at 400 ASA.

Now what I want is a viewfinder I can see in bright sunlight

Yes, but that's the only thing that's nice about this phone--the camera, specifically the still photographs. Everything else about the phone is pretty meh. I feel like returning the Pixel 3 XL.

Do it. I'm still waiting for my sister to bring me my Pixel 3 but I got it for the camera. On everything else, I'm happy with the Pixel 2.
