This Sucks - Fingerprint Scanner Dead

A couple days into vacation and the fingerprint scanner on my G5 stops working. I've tried the suggestion to power off phone and the hold power and volume up/down for 10 seconds, other than displaying my IEMI number that did nothing else. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried re-scaning your fingerprint?

The option is no longer listed. Hardware check at boot up determines that scanner is not available and removes the option.

Problem is solved..... I'm not sure what resolved the issue, but here's what I did and the fingerprint scanner and fingerprint security option is back.

I did another battery pull and then pressed power button and used can of air to blow out the power button. With battery out I pressed and held power and volume up/down at the same time for 15 seconds (the reason was to see if this forced a complete drain of the power). I then put battery back in and then again pressed power and volume up/down at same time for 10 seconds until screen that shows IEMI number of the device, then pressed power as instructed on the screen. System powered up and fingerprint scanner is now working.

I don't think all the steps above are necessary, but it's all the steps that I did which resolved the problem so included them all.
