Ive lost an hour an a half of sleep and followed this ics update since early May, and now that i have it at finally 4:20am, i ask myself, "why did i get all hyped up over this", im not overly impressed. I started out on a vzw galaxy nexus, and returned it for a maxx, the nexus experience was better than this. Its a little better than gingerbread but not much better.

I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree. I couldn't stand Gingerbread after trying this out.

Is now a good time to say I told you so? Not you specifically, just in general?

Yeah, point will taken with all due respect, it's okay, but nothing like imagined it would be. I tried the nexus out for 14 days, no signal problem all the time but ics on it was awesome but the signal issue caused me to switch to the maxx. One thing on it I was hoping would be on this update was the video editor that was on the nexus. It had an app on it that allowed you to paste multiple videos together and it was pretty neat, along with adding 3d effects to videos (somewhat kind of 3d). There's not an app on the market that was as good as the video editor in found on the nexus.

The phone does feel a bit snappier though, I'll give it that. I wish the nexus hadn't of gave me so much dang trouble, but... This phone is pretty cool to, the battery is a huge huge plus.

It doesn't feel as smooth and fluid as it did on the Nexus.

I liked the 3 button setup better than the 4 captivate buttons.

It's nice that it looks and acts so close to stock ICS, I was worried it would be different due to motoblur.
Hats off to moto for toning it down and not making us deal with a heavy handed manufacturer overlay.

So far I'm happy with it overall, at this point I don't regret that I had to give up my Gnex.

So far a lot of my apps are force closing. I go into the settings and when I click on sound or data or anything, half of the time it force closes on me.

So far, lots of bugs and I'm not very happy with the update
I'm using the Razr Maxx

I told Motorola I didn't think it was ready, I told Verizon it had bugs. I told everyone here. But no. Every one was b*tching and whining and couldn't be patient. The soak testers were a fu*king joke and didn't take any of it seriously. So this, my friends, is what we got.

LOVE it! All the things already mentioned AND for the aging crowd, love that you can finally go into display and enlarge the font to huge on everything! (that was a plus for the iPhone but thanks to ICS, it's now an option on the MAXX.
It just flows, knock wood, no bugs yet but still playing! Battery life seems the same but we'll see...

If lots of things in settings are fcing...I suggest a factory reset.

I have done 3 moto soak tests and each one of them I said and felt the same as you. That is why I don't do them any more.

So far (knock on wood) I'm not seeing any of the bugs some are having.

I know some people recommend a factory reset before a big update.
This being a replacement phone for my Gnex it had a factory reset done about 3 weeks ago. I also downloaded very few apps in an-tici- - - pation of the update.

I have had enough practice and experience with updates that I always partition cache wipe, factory reset, then partition cache wipe again all from recovery after big updates. I do the same when i get replacement phones. It's just a routine for me that works.

marginally better for me but I wasn't using the stock launcher either

So far a very mixed bag. I can longer press down in a app that uses text to change keyboards. It has to be done from the settings menus. The GPS icon longer shows up in the top bar. Putting bookmarks on one one of the none-home screens is no nearly as easy nor is creating individual app "action" shortcuts. All of my old pictures in the contact list enlarged too much and distorted. I had to reassign them but the actual contact screen does not seem to scale the pictures like the old ones did. The pictures appear at the top in an elongated window and only part them appear and they are still distorted and fuzzy. Not exactly an improvement. Screen scrolling seems to be OK and I've noticed that when you change screens the icons now hold a consistent brightness level.

I like it, seems to be smoothing out as time and reboots go by. Just got 4g in my area as well so I'm particularly happy. Battery does not seem to be as long lasting, but I've barely stopped using it so that may account for it.

Got it this am on Razr Maxx, like it, camera seems better, like tabbed browsing (tho was really OK with the "windows"); have one issue with email. I use 3 accounts. Only gmail is working. Can't get yahoo or corporate to work at all. Tried new widgets, that's how I got gmail to work - very nice! Any ideas? Thanks
