Thoughts after using Bionic plus pictures

Am I the only one who doesnt hate the pentile? Yes, the SGII phones have better saturation, but I think sometimes the saturation isn't accurate and it just over contrasts everything. Being a photographer/designer I hate colors that are so saturated its fake.

I looked at a D3 at the store yesterday and it wasnt all that bad. Not as perfect as some other screens out there..but I have a tablet for most of my long view sessions of stuff. The only thing I didnt like is the banding that occurs on some gradients. But overall I enjoy motorola's hardware way better than samsungs. Samsung products and their plastic parts, while light, feel cheap to me.

I don't like Samsung products that much either, they do feel a little cheap. But they are still great phones and such.
And I'm a cinematographer/VFX guy and I hate colors that are so overly saturated too. I'll look at the GSII when it hits the states, but I don't think I'll really care about the difference in screens. I'd take better battery life and better outdoor viewing over some better colors and a little pixelation that I'll probably never see anyday.

I just hope the Bionic holds up better after 2 years then the horrible BB Tour I have now! I had to strip the OS and reinstall so many times to try and keep it from freezing! Thursday morning cannot come quick enough!

You think your blackberry was bad? Try using a Chocolate, I've had this for 3 years.

If pixela are there and you can't see the pixels than your eyes are worse than the screen is.

I think the charge screen looks amazing.
Cartoonish? - yea I can see that but mostly everything viewed on our phones is not "real life ".
Online, reading, gaming, apps, its all not a real life picture .

I think I will like the screen either way.
And by not answering my question with a direct answer, I got my answer.
The screen might not be as good to me with my own eye vision compared to someone else who can't see as well or isn't looking as good to notice.

I do agree about the trade for better battery life though!

I wear contacts, so I get 20/20 while wearing them, so I do have good eyesight...while wearing my contacts. I liked the screen on the D3 and DX2, so the Bionic will be even better.

I'm hoping the Verizon store has a demo unit on hand. I'd like to see the screen for myself. If the pixels are visible to me then it makes waiting a little longer much easier. But if I don't notice it, then I've really got some thinking to do.

I think, in this case, it has more to do with how your brain processes the information than eyesight.

Probably....I think if you think that there is a problem then there is. I went in thinking neutrally...it could be bad, could be good. I went in, looked at the screen (on a Droid X2 and Droid 3) and I'm like "better than what I have, sold."

People who hate Pentile think anyone who doesn't is a blind fool.

People who like Pentile think that their superior brains are just more capable of "making sense" of the digitized information on screen as opposed to those Pentile haters with inferior brains.

I'm not waiting. The Bionic is more phone than I need right now and probably will be for at least the next year or more.
HTC makes good phones, but I just prefer Motorola phones overall. I use my device as a phone first and everything else is secondary. With that said I've yet to to find a cell phone that matches Moto's call quality.

Another thing to consider is, nothing has been made official as far as release date on the Vigor. so anything can happen. Case in point, the Bionic was delayed almost 7 months.
Totally agree, we could be waiting till Feb 2012 for the Vigor.

Yep, does anyone remember the Thunderbolt delays? I do, just because I have one. I miss having a Motorola phone so much though. I definitely like HTC phones better than Samsung though, hence the reason I'm not really interested in the Prime. I hope the next Nexus after the Prime is a Motorola phone. That would definitely be my dream phone! I'll have an upgrade the end of next year so i should be able to get the next Nexus if it comes to Verizon.

Haha, I don't think anyone has made that last statement yet. I was referring to why some people can see pixelation and why others can't.

Glad I'm not alone. I know its probably a handful of us around...lol. One reason I'm a Motorola fan is reception. Learned a few years ago that all phones arent made equal when it comes to reception. 5 phones, all on Verizon since the mid 2000's and my 3 Motorolas worked in places the other 2 from another manufacture didnt.

For me battery life and reception comes first.

Same for me on the Moto Reception. The only reason i'm getting a signal I can actually use for voice at my house is my OG Droid. My Blackberry Curve 8330 that I had via Alltel and eventually VZW (when Alltel got bought) barely got a signal at all. I didn't dare answer my phone at home, i'd have to take note of who called me and call back on my land line. My OG Droid has 'fixed' that, though I still dont dare answer the phone and be moving around in my house. If I can hear the person when they call i stand still so as not to lose reception. Moto made it better lol I'm still strongly considering paying the $250 for the Network Extender or whatever its called from VZW. In my case its probably worth it. Its just money, right? :) We'll see how the Bionic reception is in my house and then maybe pull the trigger on the extender.

Same here, and Motorola is the best at those two things. And they get updates out in a pretty decent time compared to Samsung.

I am with all of you about the signal reception and battery life. I always had great reception with my Motorola phones. All of these phones we talk about are pretty decent if every place you go has a cell tower nearby, but I have had Samsung phones that didn't have very good call quality and reception and My WinMo HTC phone, I really liked it but my OG Droid gets MUCH better reception in places with a marginal signal. In fact I can talk anywhere around my house now where I had to find a couple of special "spots" and not move and still had to keep repeated myself and saying "Huh" all the the time.

It will take a lot to get me away from Verizon + Motorola now. I am often at people's houses (a lot with iphones and blackberry's) and they say "Oh, there's no Cell signal here" and they give me dirty looks as I am chatting away on my OG Droid.

I'll stick with Motorola for now thanks!;)

Because idiot bloggers post them without knowing what they're talking about. Any site or blog worth their salt that references them will include a disclaimer that they're synthetic benchmarks that don't reflect real world performance and can be cheated. Most don't even bother talking about them at all, since the ability to cheat them is well known.

Benchmarks comparing two different phones don't mean anything. Its an apples oranges situation. (Like comparing the same car with two different engines and transmission) you cannot compare a Bionics quadrant to a GS2 because the numbers aren't comparable.

I'm convinced that those that throw out the 'but the GS2 got a 3,100' are trying far too hard to compensate for something...

The final benchmark numbers mean nothing to me either but looking at the frame rate during the benchmarks can be an indication of how the phone will perform under load. There is a video on droidforums of the bionic doing a quadrant benchmark and the frame rates results can be worrisome. It only averaged between 20 and 30 fps and one area it hovered around 14fps with dips as low as 11fps.

Maybe thats because you're at their house for one reason or another and you're on your phone? ha ha But yeah, I know what you mean. I like having a 'slightly' better signal than others.

I have a Question for you So you do not think if The Prime comes to Verizon that they will not put Bloatware on the Prime? Name me one phone on Verizon that does not have Bloatware? The Prime will be Bloated Down!!!

The iPhone.

The iPhone.

I think that may be because VZW didn't want to be blamed for how bad it was... it was going to do that on its own. Now.. perfectly good phones from Motorola, however, need a little help 'sucking' so VZW picked up the slack and bloated it right on up. :)
