Thoughts on the JB OTA Install

This is where it appears on my RAZR. I'm running the updated JB build. The All section should be at the far right.

Found it. I guess I forgot that the top section was scrollable. Clearing and stopping that app didn't help pull the update for me.

Final questionnaire/survey just went out to the soakers, so I still don't think the OTA push has been started to the general masses. Very soon, though.

Seems the update circus gets more bizarre with each one, doesn't it?

Something tells me this will be the last circus for our beloved Maxx's.

All the TI OMAP phones are done after this unless a major security issue comes up.

Yep. I love this phone & plan to hang onto it a good while... unless, of course, a new model running KLP blows me away.

I just get a bad feeling about updating early....
(and, yes, it is meant as humor)

Okay, I've upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 on my Droid Razr Maxx. And to be perfectly honest, I can't tell what the major differences are between JB and ICS.
I now have Google Now, and some bloat ware is gone, but what other features and apps have been added to make the user experience better or more enjoyable than Ice Cream Sandwich?
Thank you.

I've had it since Thursday, although it was pushed to me on WED morning. - I didn't actually install it until Thursday due to getting my rooted ducks in a row. Once again, it's been announced that it's been pushed to the masses and some of us HAVE already gotten it.

I realize that. I'm just reporting what the folks at Motorola are telling me, which may explain why not everyone has gotten the update.

The reason that everyone has not gotten the update is that it takes time. This is the first time that I've been on the front end of an update. I apparently got it the first day or very close to it. In previous updates, I've had to wait a week after reading that the update was rolling out and that people already had it. I understand all too well the frustration of having to wait because one is not one of the early ones, but once the update actually starts rolling out, it's only a matter of time. This insistence that the PTB are doing business as usual and that the update has to wait until after the soak test is finished seems to be legion, even though it flies in the face of official statements and facts on the ground. I don't know why they have done it this way, but this is the first real update since Moto and Google have been combined so I'm sure that integration has forced some changes. Maybe they are confident that they can roll out a minor update quickly if the soak test results have some unexpected results. Maybe having Google on board and moving toward a "Google" framework and away from Motorola one on the phone itself has smoothed the process. Most likely, it's a combination of all of the above. And the new business framework is probably responsible for the hiccup in December with the aborted rollout. The difference this time is that they've made official announcements concurrent with the rollout.

Would point out that the Bionic update to ICS last October was also done as a simultaneous soak / release. So this is not a new thing to the RAZR / MAXX JB rollout.

Finally!

Now the download bar is gone. Still says its downloading when I go to check for an update. Hopefully it's still working. I don't remember having any issues with ics download.

My update went flawlessly. It did hang up a bit when it says "upgrading media databases" but now it's fine. Took about 20-25 minutes. I know it's not done by location but I'm in Ohio and I used wifi. Feels good to only be one update behind.
