Thunderbolt Battery Complaints + Tips/Tricks

Question... people are saying to turn off GPS to extend the battery life. But there are 3 different GPS settings. 1) VZW Location Services 2) Standalone GPS Services & 3) Google Location Services. Which ones do what???? I'm guessing one is for navigation services and one for the weather widget. Which ones do what and which ones should you turn off for better battery? Thanks.

Any of the 3 location services do not affect battery life unless you are always pulling down location information.

So for the last hour in have been bump charging and never got the immediate green light is this normal? I probably unplugged and plugged it back in 10 times

I gotta tell you, I've had the extended since day one and I've sprinkled in the stocker over this weekend.
I'm going to try the stocker out all week (since I'll always be near a charger) but I have to be 100% honest. If you really want to use this phone you need the humpback or you need to root it and clean it up.
The stocker is disappointing.

I'm getting very solid battery life now ever since that one nightmare a few days back where it died in about 6 hours of being nearly idle the whole time. I guess it was an app I downloaded the night before. Now my idle time hardly uses any battery. Couldn't be happier.

Well after over a week with this phone I am now sure that I will be returning it. It seems as if my battery life is getting worse, even with bump charging. I've been careful not to add any new apps that could cause this. Like a lot of you, I was really excited waiting for this phone. I came from the Droid X (a great phone) because I wanted the 4G, the front facing camera, and I liked how the phone seemed smaller than the Droid X but with the same size screen! Really like this phone, but I cannot keep recharging it through the day or even worry about whether it'll hold up. I was going to buy an extra 1400mah battery but the one I have doesn't last long enough to tempt me to do that! I'll wait for the Bionic and get my hdmi out back. I tried every way to talk myself into keeping this phone, it certainly doesn't sell itself.

I played the golf game on it yesterday for about two rounds and the screen got so hot I didn't want to hold it close to my face! Has anyone else noticed this? The whole phone was hot but really hot if you touch it to your face. With all this bump charging, sometimes when I go to turn it on it seems to go into a certain boot mode. I think its because I accidentally push the "on" button twice and then hold it instead of just pressing it once and holding down which is easy to do with this phone. Bought it on the 17th, I guess I have until the 31st, if I can't get this figured out I'll be returning it on the 30th.

Wow. 49minutes since unplugged. I haven't sent one text, one email, one call NOTHING. I turned on the backlight for less then 20 seconds to check the time about 20 minutes ago now to check how long the uptime is. 74% Battery remaining. WHAT THE %&$*?

I haven't experienced "the battery gets better as it learns my use" scenario. I had it on yesterday for about 6 hours with minimal use and had to put it on the charger. Called to express my concerns today and was pretty much told that I could return the phone if I didn't like it. I don't mind using the extended battery but there are times when I prefer the sleekness of the regular battery and the fact that I have a case and clip that fits it.

It's lasted longer today but there's no 4G or even 3G service in my area for some reason.

I know I'm a broken record but I can't say enough good about the extended battery! It's so worth the price and the added bulk

I've been playing with my phone all day non stop since 930, so 9th hours, with sync running, auto brightness, streaming radio and video, internet, texting, and instant messaging and the battery is at 58%

Thing is amazing

i installed green power from the market and my battery last all day, worked so well i ended up buying the premium version!! was having ****ty battery life like everyone else, not anymore :)

how are you guys getting 10 hours of moderate use and still 40% battery or something? what is moderate use?

i was on a few bus rides this weekend, so i tested out how long my battery lasts with continuous use (pandora, surfing, screen on) and it's barely three hours. i've done all the tips in the forums.. not sure what i'm missing.

For those of you concerned with battery life. You should check out eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/2x-Battery-Dock-Desktop-Charger-HTC-Thunderbolt-4G-/320676698675? pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4aa9d21a33#ht_3304wt_779 I got a good deal on 2 batteries and a charger for like 10 bucks. It takes about 2 weeks free shipping, and the batteries work great. I ordered them before the phone was even out because I had an incredible and knew the battery was going to be less with the thunderbolt.

Is it a good idea to be getting these after market batteries? Are they safe to use with the Thunderbolt?

Got my seidio 1600 battery yesterday. charged it all night. Took it off the charger at 11 am (no bump)......its 12:37 at night and im at 51%.
Moderate to heavy use. Rooted to the perfect storm. I have NO idea why its so much better than the 3 hours till 20% i had earlier in the week....but its awesome

After having read so many battery threads here and at xda for the last week and a few days that I'm really beginning to wonder, and suspect, that there might be a battery QC issue. Some people's phones seem to last for hours on the regular battery (mine does) and some people get almost squat use out of the phone even with everything optimized etc. I think that these things begin to point to an issue with the batteries themselves. Could it be that some people are lucky enough to get a good battery and that others are getting batteries that have issues?

Problem is, how would you get Verizon to take a look at this possibility. The CSR reps aren't going to have a clue and this would have to be taken up at a higher level at Verizon to get something going.

I've been unplugged for 4 hours this morning, 4G, one phone call, 5 texts, checked five emails, NO browsing, NO facebook, display on <25%, GPS OFF, BT OFF. Facebook, Foursquare, and Twitter are NOT refreshing and I'm at 19% on the battery.
