Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

That buyback quoted my perfect condition captivate at 90 dollars, ebay would get me nearly 300...

I talked to a BBY salesman and he told me that it was a BBY exclusive and that Verizon would not be selling it at all. I called Verizon and they said they would have it when it launches, the same as BBY.

BB gets paid only for contracts, so of course he would lie to you and tell you to get it there.

LOL.

expanding on this, I think that the Verizon salesman is the one who's right here. that's too funny though.

Does anyone know what BB's ETF is? I swear I read its like $200 ON TOP of verizons $350?? That can't be true...

Ive been Drinking the Android Kool Aid since December, when i got my Inc. I simply added a bit more sugar to it.

So, from hating Androids to buying the second in 2 months, that's definitely drinking the kool-aid.

Now complaints here. I plan on buying the TB (actually two) and it will be my 7th smartphone, but my first Android.

Back on topic, I am willing to bet real money that verizon will have the TB on launch date. Any takers? BBY may have an exclusive deal for 3rd parties, but that is entirely seperate from keeping it out of Verizon stores. Verizon can't launch 4G and not carry the first 4G phone. If N other 4G phones were already on the market, then sure, no big deal, but not for the first.

And finally, I really hope that BBY (and Verizon) start selling it on the 14th, but just because it is instock on the 14th doesn't mean it will go on sale that date.

Also check out SquareTrade's warranties. Much cheaper than Asurion and there's typically a 30% off coupon around that you can use. Didn't use to cover water damage, but I think it may now.

I know about squaretrade but they don't cover you if your phone is lost/stolen. I'm not careless with my phone or anything but I'd rather not take the chance so I stick with asurion.

Yes bby will carry the iPhone 4 but not preorders. My store on LI will open at 7 and it will be limited. Going through best buy mobile is almost the samething as going through a VZW store. But 2mm when I go to work I will check that sku and ask the mobile sup. And manager if they think that is it. Ill get back to you guys 2mm.

my coworker said what he was told was preorders will begin this Sunday and phone will go on sale, the 14th. He already told me i can come in the morning of so i can get the phone before they open. I doubt there will be any demand for the phone, but i want the phone as soon as possible.

If you get the buy back service through bby w. The TB it will be 59.99 because it is above $249.99.

Yea for the TB I believe there is preorders going on right now at my store too. I think. But I want one so bad. It sucks working around technology all day long lol

A few weeks back I talked to a BBY salesman and he told me that it was a BBY exclusive and that Verizon would not be selling it at all. I called Verizon and they said they would have it when it launches, the same as BBY. She went on to say that the only exclusive phones on their network that can't be purchased through Verizon are phones with a different color scheme (ie white Fascinate, white Incredible). And looking back, I have never heard of any exclusive phone other than a color variant that wasn't also sold by Verizon.

As far as the marketing, how is this any different than what happened with the Incredible. That phone had NO marketing before it was released other than banner ads on some web pages until a few days before it was released. I preordered mine and received it 2 days before it showed up in the physical stores. The night before I received it, Attack of the Show on G4 did a review of it. Verizon ads for it didn't appear until almost 3 weeks after it launched.

I think if not for 1. Verizon under estimating how popular it was going to be 2. the amoled screen shortage, and 3. Verizon not getting any tv ads out before/at launch, it would have sold double or triple what it did. It still had a 2 week backorder on it when the Droid X launched. I know because a friend of mine wanted it but didn't want to wait so he got the X instead. When I saw him about a month after he got it we swapped phones to tinker with them. I didn't feel any regrets, he said he still liked his X but he kinda wished he would've waited for the Inc.
