Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

at least we know the 14 is the date. i just wish/hope verizon store does pre sale. an the superbowl ad is true. we are dying to get this phone, but this comment kinda trashes this push back to 28th.

One thing to keep in mind is that Miami1683 has been 100% WRONG about this phone since at least November. I followed him on DroidForums.net and listened to his BS since early Nov. and let me tell you... he preached things about this phone that NEVER panned out. I definitely would NOT buy-in to his credibility where this phone is concerned. See you on the 14th TBolt!

I hope this dude is wrong, from what iv read hes made a lot of incorrect predictions about the tbolt and its release so far. The 14th is the day.. if not then from what im seeing alot of ppl are going to give up and get something else and that would be sad :.(

My co worker said he has not heard anything about a push back. Neither has his manager. He said they still expect it to be released the 14th. Everyone in mobile is trained and anticipating the launch date the 14th.

Nobody knows how all those iphones are going to treat verizon's network yet. That may be the determining factor.

It has been discussed in another thread that the person saying this has bad credibility and has been wrong almost always on what he says.

Besides, there is a Verizon store giving away a Tbolt on the 12th. You really think they'll do that and let that person have it for almost 2 weeks ahead of everyone else?

I think it's the skype. The FFC is a huge selling point, Vzw want's to make sure it works correctly. I think if they have airtime during the SB, it will be out the 14th. Why wait 2 weeks? The buzz will die down.

First time poster:

I'm in Dallas at the superbowl. I'm staying in the same hotel that the Verizon Hospitality Suite is in. They didn't let me into the suite (through much begging) but I was able to squeeze out the following info:

1. The Thunderbolt was inside for demo and was the hottest device at the event.

2. Pre-orders start......tomorrow (Sunday the 6th).

What sucks is I'm working all day at the superbowl. I'm hoping they open up the pre-orders before I have to report in.

Don't count on it. Everyone at work is anticipating the 14th. Im going to be working with mobile that day so i will be having hands on with the TB :). My manager would have said something.

I just went to Best Buy today with their flier in hand. I spoke with the mobile manager and requested two pre orders for the Thunderbolt. He advised me that tomorrow morning when they open, the Thunderbolt will be in their system. He also told me That everyone that pre orders will have their bolts on the 14th. That was at 11 am this morning. He was quite the techy like most of us. He had from his personal use a rooted custom Inc and he will be paying full price for bolt. He seemed very confident in what he told me......

I won't be able to pre order till next week. Im not worried. The TB will not be very popular to start off. Not many people will know about it since the iPhone is coming out. I see it as more of a phone that will sell more once people reaize what it can really do and become jealous of there peers using it.

I don't think that's the case. If it were, they'd never be able to sell any other smartphones until they upgraded the network. I think it has to do with what some are saying that everyone's waiting on htc to deliver the devices. The launch has been pushed up from March so it's possible that they're scrambling to get enough devices out for launch.

I am going to seriously consider getting the iphone if the T-Bolt really does get pushed back to the 28th... This waiting game is getting quite old. Hopefully the report of it getting pushed back is false. Best Buys free buy back ends the 26th and that is something I was considering using.. Ah well we shall see. I think if they push it back to the 28th they may lose a decent amount of sales to the iphone due to people getting fed up.

What hotel? I'm over in Cowtown and might might take a trip over to try and get preview!

The Fairmont. Up on the T level. As soon as you get to the T level you'll see the Verizon check in desk. Good luck with the two ladies at the front desk though, lol.

Vzw knows that although the TB is a more superior phone, the iphone is more marketable and better for business. Can't blame them for making a smart move. The TB will be marketed for its 4G capabilities. But with 4G not widely available it's tough to get EVERYONE interested. So the best thing to do is get people interested in the best 3G phone. That phone, in some peoples minds, happens to be the iphone 4.

Remember we were never supposed to know the date it would be coming out. It's our fault for speculating. Ive known about this phone since last year. Ive waited this long, a few more weeks won't KILL me.

Same here, but it does get frustrating. I told a CSR I called (about my family plan) that it seems a lil unfair that a few days after the announcement at CES they announce the iphone with a release date & pricing. Meanwhile Android smartphone users who have brought smartphones on Verizon to where they are now are left wondering & waiting.

I went on to say that the uncertainty about 4G pricing about smartphones is a lil unsettling as well. It seems more like a student cramming for a final than a multi billion dollar telecommuincations company. She responded with "I don't know what to tell you. We have no info at this time. You'll probably know before we do." I ended it with "well that's reassuring."
