Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

So I'm late to the game on this and probably am absolutely ******ed for asking this but....

They say that Best Buy has "retail exclusivity". Does this mean that we can only get a Thunderbolt from BB (or at least initially) or does this mean that you can also get one from the Verizon store and that BB is the only other place you can pick one up (so no Radioshack, ect)??

I believe that Best Buy is just the exclusive 3rd party retailer (walmart, radioshack, etc) and the phone will be available as well in the VZW stores.

Ok, so my Dad just went and preordered the TB today (I convinced him to get this one so that he doesn't wait longer and have a better phone than me :)), and he tells me that the manager told him the phone is now in their system listed at $200. Since each person hears a different story from every BB, I'll take it with a grain of salt, but it would be nice to see it cheaper.

My co workers keep saying the TB will be 600. I always ignore them though hahaha

I currently do not have a smartphone plan. Would BB be able to add the smartphone plan to my contract? If so, are there any extra costs?

$750 is crazy that's what I just heard from a rep at BB $250 with a two year contract he expects it in after the 18th but before March.

Any new info from our BB people?
Still no reply to my email to BB mobile service.
PO'd mine today and they were adamant that they were getting it first and that Verizon wasn't going to have it in-store. They also said they were told the 14th except that they heard it could be delayed. From what I can tell they don't really understand any more than we do.

Im not going to PO mine since Im not planning on getting it at BB but if BB has it the 14th and VZW does not I will def go there to buy it..do you guys think it will be possible to buy th Tbolt with out a PO on the release day or would that be idiotic of me to think I could?

best buy can't do verizon's annual in their system right?

I've talked to a few people at BB and they've all told me no. Someone of the forum said they might be able to do it but it would cost an extra 200.

But don't worry about it, BB will release before VZW when Steve J gives out iphone for free.

Choose mobile phones, then choose upgrade your phone. It's right under the 1-888 number.

So, I've got a theory...

Why are we hearing the delay is hardware related from some sources and i*hone related from others? The truth is the truth. There is only one. Why is Best Buy corporate insisting on the 14th as late as this morning? MAYBE there is some misdirection going on here by VZW... Perhaps the phone IS available on the 14th, but it drops with no fanfare. This would not be without precedent (see Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global... they just showed up one day) This keeps huge "Thunderbolt 4G" posters from posssibly swaying i*hone customers. This also appeases the Android masses.

After the i*hone hype dies down, they go on an all-out Thunderbolt advertising blitz.

This is very possible. Look at the Palm Pre 2 or whatever it's called. Announced yesterday (I believe) and pre-orders today. That's pretty nuts.

It's possible, but at this point I've come to terms with the fact that I probably won't see it on Monday. I'm at peace with it. So if it does come out, it's like a fun surprise :). Maybe they'll have cases I can buy on Monday so it feels more real.

You guys see this?
